At Walmart Canada, our goal is to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and products. Our umbrella theme For the Greener Good is our strategic framework for the products, initiatives and partnerships associated with our goal of becoming a more sustainable company. Every day we are working to improve and we strive to reach our core goals, which include: to be supplied 100% by renewable energy; to create zero waste; and to sell products that sustain people and the environment.
Canadians want products that are manufactured, sourced and packaged in more sustainable ways. We don't believe they should have to pay more for those products. We're on a mission to provide our customers with environmentally preferable products that are comparable in price and quality to the products they currently use. Today our For the Greener Good shelf-tags can be seen in our stores on organic clothing, energy-efficient appliances, ethically-sourced foods, biodegradable cleaning products and more.
There are numerous green initiatives happening in our company. We're currently working to make our Home Office a waste-free facility. As well, we recycle as much waste from our stores as possible -- currently, we divert over 20 waste-streams from landfill. We also take the energy efficiency of our stores seriously. Our new High Efficiency (HE) buildings require 30% less energy to operate than the stores we were constructing in the recent past. In addition to conserving energy, we're one of Canada's largest purchasers of clean and carbon-free electricity through our relationship with Bullfrog Power.
We've also partnered with environmental consultants, non-profit organizations and other groups to help us achieve our Sustainability goals. These partnerships strengthen our environmental commitment and enable us to grow responsibly and intelligently. Through our partnership with Evergreen -- a national non-profit group with experience in bringing nature to Canadian cities through naturalization projects -- we fund the Walmart - Evergreen Green Grants. We have committed $2.5 million over 5 years to operate this program. The money supports groups wishing to restore natural habitats or wanting to create dynamic community gardens in their local areas.
