Walmart has a long history of involvement in the communities we serve. We're committed to the community and its people, because we live here too.
Walmart Canada operates one of the country's strongest community involvement programs. Since 1994, Walmart Canada and its associates have raised and donated more than $110 million to Canadian charities and non-profit organizations.
Our four national charity partners are Children's Miracle Network (children's hospitals across Canada), Breakfast Clubs of Canada (child nutrition programs), Canadian Red Cross (disaster relief) and Evergreen (community greening initiatives).
Since 1994 we have raised and donated close to $49 million for Canadian Children's hospitals. These hospitals treat 2.6 million kids each year.
Walmart Canada has raised and donated more than $10 million since 2005 to support school breakfast programs across Canada. Breakfast Clubs of Canada serves over 30 million breakfasts to 200,000 kids annually.
Since 2003, Walmart Canada has raised and donated more than $9 million to the Canadian Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts. The Canadian Red Cross helps roughly 10,000 people affected by emergencies and disasters annually -- situations ranging from a housefire to a flood that disrupts an entire region of the country.
Walmart Canada has provided $2.5 million to help support over 260 local community greening projects across Canada. Evergreen's mission is to bring communities and nature together for the benefit of both.
In addition, Walmart stores across the country support local charities and organizations that are important to the communities they serve. Under the Local Matching Grant Program, Walmart Canada matches these contributions up to a set amount.
