This shelf was garbage as soon as the package was opened. The shelves were stuck together (perhaps stored somewhere hot and the glue or finish melted?). When we tried to separate them, one of the boards cracked. Also, after the two halves of the shelf were built, the holes for the wooden dowels didn’t line up and they wouldn’t click together. Two of them actually fell right into the holes and couldn’t be retried. We ended up screwing the pieces together instead of returning it because return lines have been so long since the stores in Ontario opened up again.

Garbage

Bought this as it seemed cheaper than buying wood and making it myself, I was wrong. The shelves arrived half unwrapped (not purolator's fault as they were barely wrapped to begin with). I'm guessing that the shelves were supposed to be glued together as there was glue stuck to some of the loose pieces of wood in the pile I received. Every single piece was broken or dysfunctional in some way. Some were split, some had glue on them that had to be scraped off before putting the shelves back together, and some had dots where I'm assuming holes were supposed to be drilled but weren't. It took me a good 4 hours to put it together and a box of giant screws to make sure it actually stayed together when I let go. I should have returned it but put so much effort into it I didn't want to stop. I read the bad reviews before and thought that maybe it would be different for me, it wasn't. 10/10 would never ever recommend to anybody and I really think Walmart owes me a refund.

Very terrible product!!

I ordered four of these wooden shelving units online for my shop and they arrived promptly via Purolator... However, cracks and splits were visible before we even started assembling them. 

The first two units collapsed during assembly... Returning such a mess to Walmart, especially for an online order, would have been a nightmare so I hired a handyman to reinforce them and make the final two functional.

Judging from some of the other reviews, it's clear that a significant proportion of these shelving units won't even last until the assembly is finished. You've been warned...

Fell apart during assembly

5 stars as the product meets what I had expected. It is defiently low quality, but look at the price... what do you expect? Personally wouldn t be using this in the common areas. However for the guys/girls that are into Crypto Mining this thing is a steal. Yòu can get creative and potentially build numerous rigs on here. Holds together nice! For all the 1 star reviews, probably should lower your expectations when buying furtniture that costs 30$CND. I knew the quality was going to be low when i purchased it, but was actually better then I had expected.

Exactly as expected

got mine on sale for 20 bought 4 of them, re-purposed one as it had a few cracked boards, but i didn't care as that one didn't need them all when i was done with it. the other 3 have followed me around for 4 yrs 3 moves and i regularly store about 100-300 lbs worth of stuff on them, and the generally take it. i also make sure i go in store to get mine as i don't trust the conditions they have to go through to get shipped. and i plan on picking up more this week (even though they aren't on sale this go around. i love these shelves cause when they break i go out and buy a 1x3 board cut to length and a couple nails later done. i can't build shelves like this for the price they sell for.

expected cheap, paid cheap, got exactly that

I have one of these shelves - bought it somewhere else years ago and I wanted another one and ordered it off the Walmart website.  When it arrived I was SO excited.  I started pulling it out of the box and it was absolute garbage.  The slats were loose from the main side pieces that hold the slats together (they aren't supposed to be loose), some of the wood flanges were cracked off and some of the pre-drilled holes for assembly were broken so even if the shelves were not broken, I could not have put this together.  I gave it (1) star because I couldn't give it less - and the return at the store was really easy - no questions asked.

TERRIBLE Product

The unit is made of cheap pine. Some of the boards were split, all had open knot holes in them. Several of the boards had drill holes that were going off on an angle or were not fully pre-drilled which resulted in the wood splitting when trying to put the unit together. The dowels were too loose to hold the top and bottom together and it was very unstable as the boards were not smooth on the bottom. When I shifted it to square it up 3 of the shelves fell completely apart. Tongue and groove joints were very sparsely glued and didn't even fit on some of the shelves. I will be returning this for sure.

I have now had this product for over 5 years and have brought it with me to the last 3 places I have moved to. It is strong and durable, I can store anything on it with worry that it will break like most plastic shelves with are also more expensive and I found just horrible. It;s a great price and does exactly what it's supposed to, if you want something fancy go spend the money. It's made of real wood and my drill holes were fine, the wood has never split and I've taken it apart and put it back together a few times.

Quality fits the price!

I have purchased a total of 4 of these shelves. The first three were bought, one at a time in the store, brought home, assembled, loaded, and those three still stand proud, bearing all kinds of weight.  This last one had to be bought through the WM on-line because they no longer carry it in my local store. It arrived in 5 days, but when I opened the wrap, the shelves came out all falling apart. Not sure if insufficient glue was used, or had a really rough ride in transit, but there's no way anyone could assemble anything out of that package, so back it went, and I have to re-order it and try again.

Always one rotten apple in the bunch...

What a piece of garbage.

The design is completely nonsensical. The legs attach to slats and those slats support 4 shelf boards. Except shelf boards are not attached to slats in any way so a tiny breeze and the left and right side of shelf shift away from each other and everything falls apart. There is literally nothing holding this thing together horizontally. I've seen kids blocks with more structural integrity.

 Going to try nailing boards onto slats in hopes it will keep everything together but definitely dont trust it eith any weight. Fingers crossed the wood won't just split on me.

Oh, and instructions arent even for this shelf, despite being printed directly on the back of the product label. Good move walmart.

Did they think out this design at all...!?!

I bought two of these when I was in the city. I wanted them for my garage, but when I assembled one I liked the rustic look and used one for my living room for components and antiques. I hope they have some more left at Walmart as I would like to buy 2 more. One could not build a shelf for this price.
