Ratings & Reviews+

Entertainment Center is rated 3.9536 out of 5 by 151.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! This entertainment center is amazing, especially for the price. I've always loved Sauder's products, and this one is no exception. For $250 you get a piece of furniture that looks just as good as ones that cost over $1000. Plenty of shelving and space for any video game consoles, boxes, etc. The biggest drawbacks of this product however are the assembly. I've read reviews from Amazon where people simply gave up after 6-7 hours of assembly, why it took them that long I'll never know. I'm a 26 year old male and I'm in pretty good shape, and it took me about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to assemble. Sauder's instructions are always clear and make it a lot easier. However, towards the latter stages you WILL need someone to assist you, particularly in flipping it over to nail the backs in. In short, if you want an entertainment center and don't want to spend a ton of money, this is the best choice you'll find no matter where you look.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm pleased I purchased this about a week before Christmas 2013 and chose the regular free shipping-to-door method. AFTER the purchase was confirmed, I received an email confirmation stating that it would be shipped on January 9th. I was given a tracking number, which I kept my eye on nearly everyday, and it seemed to have left it's warehouse in SW Ontario a few days after purchase, then sat in limbo for a couple weeks until a few days before it was to be delivered. I received a call from the company Same Day two weeks after I purchased to to set up a delivery date. They delivered it on our agreed day, but not our agreed time. The driver/delivery man was very pleasant and efficient. I just don't understand how it took 3 weeks to deliver it to my home, when I really could have just drove 2.5 hours (just north of Toronto to London) to pick it up myself. As far as the unit itself, it can be assembled in 3 hours, but if you are a perfectionist and pay attention to detail and such, you may find yourself working on this project for up to 5 or 6 hours. The steps are very clear with the exception of two of them (the very bottom platform is to be assembled with the UNfinished edge OUT and the finished edge turned towards the back of the wall - the instructions don't specify this). And the assembly work it's self is not difficult or labour-intensive, only time consuming. The final steps are to turn the entire unit onto it's face so that you can nail the back into place. It DOES say in the final steps to use the packing Styrofoam to support the upper portion of the unit, however, when I had first opened the packaging I quickly took it all outside to the curb for garbage day as to make room room and space in my livingroom for the project. So I ended up using all my couch cushions to support it and it worked just fine that way. I should mention that it does weigh in at 150lbs, but I was able to drag the unopened box/package to the center of the room (barely, but I did it!) and construct the entire thing, slide it against the wall and set everything up within a total of 6 hours, fussing over every little detail, and gluing most of it as I went along being female and weighing in at 120lbs at 5'5" tall. Now that it is completed, I'm very pleased with it. It seems very sturdy and stable and appears to be a nice piece of furniture. I have a 42" or 46" (can't remember the size) LCD TV sitting in it and it looks awkwardly puny. There is approximately 4 inches of open empty space on either side of the TV, and nearly an entire foot of open space between the top of the TV and the top of the entertainment unit. I think it would look less awkward if there was the option to have a small shelf run above the TV. Also, the unit is darker in real life than it shows in the picture. I believe the stock website picture is the exact same shade and colour, but it shows the grain well. At night time, if the lights were out, or dim, the unit may even look entirely black. With direct sunlight shining on it, it looks about 1 - 2 shades darker than the website picture. Oh, I will mention something I found to be a little odd, the unit has shelves running along both side, from top to bottom. The thing I find odd is that the very bottom side shelves (on both sides) have large rectangular cutouts in them. I would suspect it's for running cords through...? But behind the TV are three small OPTIONAL circular holes to use to feed the cords through. And also, the open shelves, right below the TV, have no option to run cords through, one would have to manually cut a hole into the backing. I find that odd, because it seems natural to me to place my gaming system and DVD player on the shelves directly below the TV, and not off to the side around the corner. And those side shelf cutout are huge rectangular holes (not really visible if you weren't looking for them actually) and not like the little punch-out holes behind the TV. Anyway, overall, for quality price, style, etc, I'm happy with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love it but hate assembly the product it self is great once you finish assembly, but assembly it self is so hard it took me and my husband 10 hrs to finish. they should find a way to make it easier and simpler.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this item - poor quality! Do not buy this item. I don’t usually post reviews but felt I had to warn others before they decided on this item. We purchased this for a family room and at first, it appeared to be a good buy. It took my husband about 6 hours by himself to assemble it. It was a little smaller than we thought but that was a good thing for this space. It’s not the highest quality but looked cute for the money. We put a 42 inch TV on the stand (smaller than the max size for the unit) and 1 week later we notice it was bowing. We were pretty horrified. We had read a review indicating that someone else had this issue but we were skeptical about how it would bow with the vertical supports under the TV. We attached extra support to the back hoping that would help but then realized that the bottom of the unit was actually caving in. Again we were horrified. We lifted the unit and slid wooden blocks under if to brace it from underneath and close up the open space. I’m hopeful that this will stop the bowing and caving in since now the wood has nowhere to sink into. I’m not sure what type of “wood” this is made out of. Obviously we realize its particle board, but I have never encountered particle board that is so soft that it can’t hold a 42 inch LCD TV. We bought this unit with the intent of putting a 46 inch on it down the road, but I’m not sure it can hold it. Extremely disappointed!!!!!!!
