Academy Award-winners, Jon Voight and Louis Gossett, Jr. headline this story of a small town thrust into the blinding glare of the media after an African-American man was found dragged to death and left on the side of the road. Dispatched to the scene, Sheriff Billy Rowles (Voight) is aided in the murder investigation by R.C. Horn (Gossett, Jr.), the town's mayor. Together they struggle to find the killers and bring them to justice, before the town explodes. The Black Panthers and the Klan arrive organizing protests, amidst the media frenzy, as Billy and R.C. discover everyone has an agenda, as they risk their careers to find the truth.
