Ratings & Reviews+

Learning Resources Geosafari Telescope is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Optics I bought this telescope in March at the local Walmart Store, to serve as a small. portable telescope that I could easily take outside for quick looks at the night sky. Surprisingly, the rather crude-looking mounting actually works very well, allowing me to smoothly change the direction of the telescope both horizontally and vertically. The eyepieces that come with the telescope are reasonably good, but I generally use two of my old, high-quality eyepieces with the correct barrel diameter to fit this telescope (a 7mm orthoscopic and a 24 mm Kellner). Two nights ago with the 24 mm Kellner I had one of the best views of the almost-full moon that I have ever had; I could see all kinds of extremely subtle shades of light and dark areas over the entire moon; with the 7 mm orthoscopic, the craters were extremely sharp and clear; I looked at Saturn and the rings were very sharp; I thought that I could detect the shadow of Saturn's globe on the rings. I temporarily attached this telescope's table-top tripod to one of my large tripods, so that I could set the telescope on the ground and look through it while standing. This telescope has an amazingly high quality objective lens for the price, and I would highly recommend it. You can buy high quality eyepieces in the 0.965-inch barrel size by googling "Telescope Warehouse".
