Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Operating Technic Yet I have built most of the larger Technic models. Excavators, large crane truck etc. but this one is the best operating model yet. It is easy to use and hasn't fallen apart. I think part of the reason for this is that it uses cross bracing to stabilize the model. This is also the first model I have built that uses the small gray spacer. The color and height sets it apart from the other models in my collection. I want to add remote control to it and motorize the claw. This is a good one to start with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Set for the Money This was my first ever Lego set/build and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Instructions were perfect and easy to understand. I enjoyed this so much I am starting to buy and build other sets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun, but I wanted more out of it The build was relatively easy and I enjoyed the experience, however like most Lego sets it wasn't enough building it, I needed to make it better. So I carefully deconstructed parts of it to figure out how to make it better, my solution, albeit doesn't match the colour scheme, I think would be a welcome addition to Lego itself. I took the main boom and repositioned it further back and higher up (to use it as a Derrick boom- for counter balance), I then proceeded to raid my extensive Lego collection for the appropriate parts to make a new main boom, and luffing jib (the extension piece at the top of the main boom). After spending almost an hour routing button twill( heavy thread) through all of the pulleys and winch components, it was time to erect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best sets to build! This Crawler Crane really provided an interesting challenge for me, and the final product after several awesome hours of building this incredible set was the result of a fantastic building experience. Good job, LEGO!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome set! Having built the 42009 Mobile Crane MKII, and the 8043 Motorized Excavator, I was well prepared for this build. I really like the throwback to the 1970's Technic color scheme. I never owned a set quite that old, but I appreciate the nostalgia. The gearbox is pretty complex but no worse than the 8043's. Using the extra set of boom really makes this model look good. The boom just looks a little too short without it added.
