Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Technic - Hot Rod (42022) is rated 4.7647 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Rod, Hot Model I bought this model because I haven't had a Technic set in a while and this was within the price range I was looking for. I have to say, it is brilliant. Here is my review: The Looks: 9.5/10 Old-school style with a big engine - I like it. However, the rear of the hot rod looks pretty bare. The Stickers: 9/10 There were only 4 stickers in this set and they all look awesome on the model. There are some places where I thought there could be stickers, but it's not a major problem The Functions: 10/10 There are 3 functions in the set: the steering, the pistons in the engine and the convertible roof. I love all of them, especially the convertible roof. The steering is fine and the pistons look really cool when you push it along. Overall: 9.5/10 Pros: - Looks cool - Convertible roof is clever - Steering is fine - Moving engine is cool - Stickers are a nice touch (if you don't mind applying them) Cons: - Rear looks bare - Maybe more stickers That's my review of the Hot Rod, thanks for reading!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second build on my reintroduction to LEGO TECHNIC. Instructions as always very easy to follow and a not to long build time. The Hot Rod is a great build. I love the V6 engine, although for authenticity a V8 would have been better, that's the only real downside of this set. The steering system is excellent although steering from the back of the car feels a little weird at first. The main feature I love is the folding roof, this is an awesome feature and I'll admit the model does look better with the roof down. Looking forward to breaking it down and building the buggy. Great value for money and a great first set for anyone new to the TECHNIC range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Toy We are long-term Lego fans. This LEGO Technic Hot Rod is one of a series of flexible models that has directions for building at least 2 different items with the same set of blocks, intricate designs perfect for our older grandsons. THANKS to for offering this model at a good price--discounted 30% = $12 off list price on the official LEGO website.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW My son came to Chicago, he mentioned that my grandson who has just turned 10 yrs old had wanted Lego Ninja for Christmas. My son had never heard of Lego having a Ninja version. I told him "I bet Walmart has it". I went on-line and WOW. Walmart had plenty & many choices to choose from. Even thou I ordered the Hot Rod Lego instead,, I had it delivered to their Wisconsin address. My grandson still loved it. He sends pictures by cellular phone of everything he builds. If I don't reply in time he would call me just to asked did I get his pictures. Now my son has made Saturday a father & son play day. They both are sending me hot rods pictures while my daughter-n-law has to judge the best. My grandson wins every time. I have another version in mind to send them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 42022 Hot Rod. First hotrod set I got this set last year as part of Lego shopping frenzy and I am very particular about this set because Lego has built hot rod sets before and I haven't had one. Down to the review, its a cool set V-6 piston engine, the choice of color plus its a convertible, not really a big set (this is medium sized) the overall look for me screams American. Since acquiring it last year I have modified it which fixes my biggest cons about this set: - no axle, a pair gears connected to one of the rear wheels and drive shaft makes the pistons move, technically its not rear drive - wheels are just too small for me It is about close to scale to set 42029 and makes a good pair for icons of Americana, the pick-up truck and the hot rod. Great set for someone looking to graduate from standard bricks and plates to advance beams.
