Very pleased, as usual, with McCormick's seasoning -- this time, Chinese Five Spices. Delicious as an accent in many dishes.

Delcious version of 5-Spice blend

If you asked me 5 or 6 years ago what 5 spice is I'd probably think a totally different taste. This I primarily use for rotisserie chicken which sounds strange but there is a fantastic recipe with it online as well as a Filipino style fried chicken that brings "joy" if you use it, garlic powder and flour. Maybe you'll get which fast food place I'm talking about but it's the jolly bees knees. Of course pork this is a classic on and an Asian inspired beef stew is what I use this on. 

This is a sweet and spicy mixture.  Not candy sweet but still quite sweet. Cloves and star anise probably stick out more than anything in this blend. Everything else is there to work with the other spices to get the best flavor like a well blended cologne. 

It's not that secret ingredient to put your rice to the next level at our local Chinese food restaurant like I thought but before buying this if you're new to Asian cooking at home get at least 3 or 4 recipes to try.
