Ratings & Reviews+

Ooma Telo VOIP Phone System is rated 4.3261 out of 5 by 1,616.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea and works very well Excellent box and have cancelled my MaBill service. You need at least 256kb upload speed on your ISP or forget going this route! Service is not free due to $3.98 per month in 911, taxes and other fees. Caller ID does not include name ID and 911 notification is NOT included. These are all part of the Premier service at $9.95 per month extra.
Pick a local number from their list or port your old one to Ooma for $39.95. If you are in a small town it may not be possible and you will have to pick one from a larger city area. One feature not mentioned is you can call home from other countries on an iPad or smart phone within Wi-Fi areas. App is free for IOS and $10 for Android. It works really well from Portugal!
Ooma website has lots of information on your service including voicemail files online. Listen to voicemails from anywhere in the world. With an add-on Bluetooth adapter your cell phone calls can be picked up on your house phone extensions. Recommended!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy set up! I have owned this now for several months. Everything is easy to use and set up is a breeze. I hard wired my Ooma into my Router to avoid any interference. We only use the basic Ooma for $4 a month. The Premier has a lot of bells and whistles that you may or may not want. I did like the feature of receiving a text when a voicemail is left at home. Ooma gave us a very inexpensive option as my wife wanted to keep the home phone. Which we needed for our home alarm. During a recent power outage, we learned that we need to have a battery back up for our Router/modem and our Ooma so it works when the power is out. You can always fall back to your cell phone, but if you have a home monitored alarm you may want to get the battery back up. I bought a Cyberpower from FS for $50. My wife complains that when she is talking to her sister (who also has Oooma) that they can't hear each other and the call is crackly. Well, I think they are both crazy as I use it all the time with no issues. My Sisiter-in-law calls a million times a day and I am usually the one who has to answer the phone and I don't have a problem hearing her. Ooma is a great way to save money and still have a home phone system. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the answer to communication very easy to set up, and if u have good internet service, it works like a charm. service people very helpful and easy to get ahold of. sure beats Canada's telecommunications services hands down both in price and services. Thanks Ooma.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Used to be a better value I am signed up for the premium service, my understanding is that (at least at one time) the basic service is/was free, I am not sure I value the extras equal to the yearly subscription price. Given the decrease in quality (I am more frequently getting feedback from callers that 'my phone is breaking up.') I am hard pressed to offer a positive review or endorsement of this service. There is adequate competition within this field right now, and that competition is beginning to make Ooma service worthy of closer scrutiny and certainly makes the service less compelling an option to suggest to others. Not helping the case is the very poor design of the new web page: I.E.; I click on the question mark in the upper right corner and get a new window, typed within that window are the words "Getting help." Nothing hyper linked, no help index -- just a wasted effort of a mouse click. I do not want to go on..... I am not a happy consumer given the expense of the amortization of the devise and accessories, plus the monthly charges and taxes, extra use of band width - I am just not sure I can rule out going back to land-line or a primary cell phone at this time . It is a ongoing consideration - Ooma needs to woo me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Problem with calls breaking up people I call say my voice is breaking up. I have a fast internet service with 40/2 mps and have set up my router for QOS. The OOMA is set up behing my router as setting it in between makes the problem worst. Other than that It is working good and I am learning how to use the system and the premier benefits slowly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ooma without ooma headset is great If you buy the ooma without the headset its great. When you have the ooma headset here is where it falls short. 1: In order to use the headset you must dial a * and a 2 digit code prior to the number your dialing out, which can cause some numbers not to go through. 2. Once the headset is active you cant dial and voice prompts that are presented to you.
