Description & Features+
"Ésimésac" (English Subtitled Version) - In an isolated village, misery eats away at the inhabitants and their dreams. The villagers of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton barely have enough food to survive and their gardens don't produce enough to stave off hunger. One spring, Ésimésac, blessed with a powerful spirit, convinces the townsfolk to collaborate on a community garden. Each person, he argues, will multiply his or her yield by cultivating the land together. At the same time, talk of a new railway line promises to connect Saint-Élie-de-Caxton to the rest of the world. The train brings the hope of abundance and an easier life. Riopel, the hulking blacksmith, starts working on the railway track and convinces the locals to invest, rather than waste their time playing in the garden. Come summer, one by one, the gardeners switch over to the blacksmith's side. Ésimésac's big project flounders under the weight of metal. But can he really stop progress?.
