Ratings & Reviews+

The Darkest Hour (Blu-Ray) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best SF of the year! Darkest hour proves no need to have Spielberg's budget to make a great SF movie. This movie is better in every way when compared to the War of the Worlds - and the more recent Vanishing on 7th street, both very close in terms of storyline. The visual effects are very good and more important very clever. Actually, maybe for the first time in many years, this SF movie has a story an action that are so clever that the whole movie feels intense and believable. It is fast pace, intelligent and the cast does a good job at carrying the intensity of the story. Filmed in Moscow, the director uses the city's best locations like nobody before. A great voyage in a very interesting architectural landscape. Last not: Do not miss the short movie in the bonus section. It is another clever achievement, bringing somewhat of an epilogue to the main feature at a higher speed - probably due to the budget constraint of this project. Still that short movie is a real movie and a complement to the main story. Probably the best SF movie of the year.
