Ratings & Reviews+

Topcrop Wild Finch - 8 kg is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best food for song birds! This mix is, in my opinion, the only one worth buying. Best value! Read on if you want a detailed explanation. I have been feeding my backyard birds for years now, and I have learned so much over time. First of all, corn in a seed mix will attract unwanted birds, i.e. the ones that bully the cute ones and make awful noises. Also, wheat feeds rodents, not birds. So, if you buy the cheap mixes, you end up wasting a lot of money, even if the size of the bag makes them look like a bargain. What you want in your feeders are these seeds: white prosso millet (great for mourning doves, sparrows, etc.), nyger seeds (a goldfinch must!), and of course, the most popular and loved by most birds, sunflower seeds (shelled or black oil type, small enough for small beaks!). This mix has the two first ingredients I mention, plus a few nice ones that also get eaten here in my backyard (canary seeds are somewhat popular too). No corn, no wheat, so no waste or rodent feeding. It has the added benefit of being a 'clean' mix that will be completely consumed and will not leave a mess on your patio. You can make this mix even more attractive by adding raw shelled sunflower seeds, which will keep it 'clean' and mess-free. I complete my backyard buffet with separate feeders that contain regular black oil sunflower seeds, but I keep those above the lawn because of the mess it can make. Bonus sunflowers pop up in the grass during summer! Nice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good mix for ground-feeders I feed a variety of birds on the deck and keep this mix on my ground tray feeder for the junco's, song sparrows, towhee's and house finches. I sweep the area and check for refills on a nightly basis, so it's easy for me to see what the birds are eating. This particular mix is what is eaten the most... I have to refill it everyday (and I put plenty out!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality bird seed! My go-to seed for the finches/juncos/doves. This really helps the wee ones get through the winter. Top quality, no fillers, no waste. I mix this with my black-oil sunflower seed and have a perfect food for all the birds.
