Get travelling

Summer in Canada is the ideal time for exploring our amazing country. Whether you choose to check out some of our more remote regions or to relax at lakeside cottages or resorts there is something for everyone.
 
Activities such as hiking, biking, camping, kayaking and other water sports and are popular across country. Closer to home you can find local festivals, outdoor concerts and other summer events. Children & travel health

Children can sometimes have special travel health issues. Consider the following:

For motion sickness
  • Dimenhydrinate (Gravol®) (ages 2 and up), given 1 hour before travel and then every 6 hours as needed
  • Scopolamine patch (ages 12 and up)
For earache (from air travel)
  • Chewing gum
  • Blowing against a plugged nose
  • Decongestants are not recommended

For dehydration (children dehydrate faster than adults)
  • Avoid any strenuous activity during hot/humid days; avoid activity when sun is strong; drink plenty of fluids
  • Drink lots of fluids – try sports drinks with carbohydrates and sodium
