Prescription Text Reminder FAQs

Our prescription text reminders help you manage your medications easily — because life gets busy! A pickup text reminder will let you know when your prescription is ready for pickup at your Walmart Pharmacy. A refill text reminder will let you know that your prescription is due for refill a few days before the medication is expected to run out.

All existing Walmart Pharmacy patients are eligible to enroll in the prescription text reminder program. However, only patients with a mobile phone number currently saved in their profile will be able to receive these reminders. If you would like to enroll in the program and have already provided your mobile phone number, no action is required. If you would like to enroll in the program but are unsure if you have saved your mobile phone number or have not yet provided it, please speak to an associate at your local Walmart Pharmacy.

Great question! This depends on how many active prescriptions you have with your Walmart Pharmacy. Pickup text reminders are sent as soon as your prescription is ready for pickup while refill text reminders are sent prior to your prescription running out according to our Pharmacy Management System.

If you're ready to refill your prescription, please call or visit your Walmart Pharmacy.

If you would like to stop receiving prescription text reminders, you may:
1. Reply "STOP" to your last prescription text reminder to opt-out.
2. Call your Walmart Pharmacy and ask to opt-out.
3. Visit your Walmart Pharmacy and ask to opt-out.

Yes. You can enroll as long as you're a guardian or authorized decision maker for the individual you're enrolling in the program and have provided consent to your Walmart Pharmacy. Please note, only patients with a mobile phone number will be able to receive prescription text reminders.

Ontario
Health Product Stewardship Association:
Do you have medication that is expired? Extra medication you bought but never used? Used sharps needed for health conditions in your household? Most households have medications and sharps that are expired or that are no longer needed. Don’t throw it out. You can return these medications and sharps to an Ontario Walmart Pharmacy through a program offered by the Health Product Stewardship Association called Ontario Medications Return Program (OMRP) and the Ontario Sharps Collection Program (OSCP). When you bring your used medication and sharps into the pharmacy you are doing your part to ensure that the items are being disposed of safely – keeping them out of the wrong hands, preventing needle stick injuries and protecting our environment.
