Klarna is a payment method that allows you to split your purchase into 4 interest-free payments. There are no set up fees.

If your cart is eligible for 4 interest-free payments with Klarna, the option will be presented at checkout. After entering your phone number, you’ll be sent an SMS message to confirm your identity. You’ll then set up your repayment method with Klarna and accept the terms of your payment plan.

You can create a Klarna account by either a) downloading the Klarna app, or b) visiting the Klarna website on your desktop browser and clicking the “Sign Up” button, or c) selecting Klarna at checkout on the Walmart app. You’ll need:
• A Canada-issued Visa or Mastercard credit card or co-badged Visa or Mastercard debit card in good standing
• Legal age to enter credit agreements depending on the province or territory in Canada
• An SMS capable phone number
• A Canadian residential address

All items in your cart must be eligible to qualify for Klarna. Current restrictions include:
• Your order must be shipped to a Canadian address
• You cannot use multiple payment methods, including gift cards. Klarna must be your sole payment method
• Your cart must be greater than $50 and cannot exceed $4000 (before taxes)
• Your cart cannot include pharmacy prescriptions
• Your cart cannot include subscriptions
• You cannot make amendments to your grocery orders once the order is successfully placed
• You cart cannot include Walmart gift cards
• You must be signed into your Walmart account in order to checkout with Klarna as your payment method

Currently, Klarna is available as a payment method at checkout in the Walmart app and on Walmart.ca.

Your payments are automatically withdrawn from your connected card according to the agreed payment schedule, with Klarna, but you can make early payments anytime you wish.

If you do not have a card saved on your Walmart account, you can select “Klarna” on the checkout page under “Other ways to pay”.
If you already have a card saved on your Walmart account, you can select “Edit Payment” on the checkout page to view other eligible payment types and select Klarna .

When you use Klarna to split your purchase into 4 interest-free payments, Klarna runs a soft credit check. It won’t affect your score, it just helps Klarna to confirm that you can pay your bills on time.

If Klarna is unable to collect a biweekly payment on the scheduled day, Klarna will try again. If the second payment attempt is unsuccessful when Klarna retries, the missed payment will be added to the next scheduled payment. To keep you in the loop, Klarna will send you an email notification if your payment was unsuccessful. After multiple missed payments, Klarna may employ a debt collection agency to collect payment from you in accordance with the terms of your payment plan. You can request to extend your payment due date on the Klarna app. If you postpone your due date, any upcoming payments for this order will be rescheduled to be withdrawn biweekly from the new payment date. You can see updated payment plans in the app by tapping Show plan on the order page.

No, however, you may be charged an Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) fee if your card on file with Klarna does not have sufficient funds when the payment is due resulting in the payment being refused or returned.

Klarna may restrict users from making further Klarna purchases due to various factors such as missed or delayed payments to Klarna or reported bankruptcy. Each purchase is a new decision so one rejection does not mean that your future purchases will always be declined and it doesn’t negatively impact your credit score.
