Do I need to clean the beauty products and packaging before I drop them off?
No, you do not need to clean the products and packaging before dropping them in-store for recycling through TerraCycle. However, please remove as much of the remaining product as possible and make sure your items are dry before you drop them off.
Are there any costs associated with this program?
This recycling program is sponsored by L’Oréal, so it is free to participate.
What happens to the waste?
Shipments of cosmetic waste are received at local TerraCycle Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). They are scanned to record shipment information and then sorted by material type using a variety of sorting technologies. Sorted materials are sent to third-party partners for processing into usable forms. The raw material is sold to manufacturing companies, who produce the end product and complete the recycling journey.
