You can use them inside or outside and can control them with the app or use the built in controller with 5 presets. They are made so that you can add more strands onto them.

We have a twinkly tree and now we are able keep the theme throughout our holiday decor. With all of the options that twinkly provides, we use these year round for celebrations and party decor. Love!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These lights are min-bulb LEDs that have several pre-programmed lighting effects that you can access by just pushing the on/off button. My grandkids love to cycle through them. You can also download an app and connect the controller to wifi, giving you the ability to both control them from your phone and customize some lighting effects. Honestly, unless you could connect about a billion strings of these (max is 4 strings), I can't really figure out why I would go to all the trouble. However, they do offer longer strings that have up to 400 lights.

Fun for the kids!

I decided to start trying them out so I can get use to it before I get them on my tree. I'm in love!! The app is so easy to set up and the lights are vibrant and fun. It can be Bluetooth to music. Now I am anxious for thanksgiving to come to set up my tree.

 Added bonus of extra color options (white, yellow/white, red/white/blue, full color spectrum) and they can also flicker. Control using the button or an app. Haven't installed the app yet to test it out but the button works flawlessly.

Really nice set of lights!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these to put on our Christmas tree to spice it up a little bit. I knew it was app controlled, but beyond that I wasn't sure what to expect. These lights ended up blowing me away! I downloaded the app and was surprised by how easy it was to use and how easy it was to hook the lights up to be controlled. Then once I was done hooking up my lights, I was amazed to see all the different patterns there were, along with different effects and ambience. I only got one set of lights, but I will definitely be getting more since you can group up to 6 sets of lights together!

Amazing Patterns! Easy app!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hung these around my front door for the holidays. The single strand is very short, so you really can't do a whole lot with just one, but that's expected since it's only 40 lights. 

I could not get the app to locate the lights, so I ended up deleting it and now I just manually turn them on. 

I think my biggest dislike with these is that the colors don't really do anything for me. There's a rainbow scheme, blue and red, white - but not quite the color that matches other holiday lights. Nothing really goes with my holiday set up. They are okay but I probably wouldn't buy more.

Nice lights but not my favorite

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh was I eagerly anticipating these app controlled LED lights.  The idea of an app and being able to synch and choose the display, the way the lights flow was so interesting to me.

I was throughly chomping at the bit. I got the lights, read the pamphlet, downloaded the app and was geeking out.  Excitement like a kid at Christmas eve, waiting to see the gift I had at my disposal.

Only then would I feel a sense of great disappointment.  No matter how or where or what I did, I was not successful in any way linking up the app.  I tried resetting the lights per the instructions.  No success. I read, unplugged, played, retried.  Waited a day, repeated the process. Trying to get this worked out any way thay I could.  No luck.

But, I did find that when the light were on, the colors were super rich, deep and very colorful. Not a faint color. I love the appearance and the LED aspect of these lights.
I never felt the bulbs get warm. The only warm spot was the controller section that you would use to connect app by bluetooth or through wifi per the instructions.  That would ge warm. Not terrible, but warm.

The lights and the string have a great connector to screw in additional lights easily and not your standard male, female plug, allowing for a more water tight seal. Now, no guarantees that water couldn't get in there, but these screw connectors make it less of a possibility.
I would have been over the moon had I been able to get the app working and to be able to choose from waves, fades and the oodles of choices that the book displayed. 
But, I cannot take away from the light and the colors from the bulbs. That, is fantastic.
