Product DescriptionKeep interior wood projects looking beautiful with Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish. This crystal clear protective finish protects and adds beauty to woodwork, furniture, and more. The clear top coat protects against scratches, scuffs and blemishes to protect the wood surface beneath. This clear sealer dries crystal clear and stays crystal clear, making it ideal for use over all Minwax Oil-Based and Water-Based Stains and colors, as well as all wood species including light woods like maple, ash and birch. The ultra-fast-drying protective coating allows for quick recoats after 2 hours. It’s also easy to clean-up the clear wood finish with just soap and water. This protective wood top coat not only protects the natural beauty of the wood, but offers a shiny, sleek sheen for a bright, modern look. It’s also non-yellowing, non-ambering and low odor. Note: Minwax Polycrylic Protective Wood Finish may appear milky upon opening, but applies and dries to a crystal clear protective finish that lasts. Application:1. Surface must be dry and free of wax, grease, polish, any foreign matter or old finishes in poor condition.2. Sand to a smooth, uniform surface. DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL. Remove dust with a damp cloth. Let dry completely.3. If desired, apply stain such as Minwax Water Based Wood Stain or Minwax Wood Finish stain to bare wood surfaces following label directions. Wait at least 24 hours before applying Polycrylic Finish over Minwax Wood Finish Stain. Can also be applied to bare wood.4. Stir well before and regularly during use. DO NOT SHAKE.5. Apply a thin coat of Polycrylic Finish with a high-quality synthetic bristle brush. Apply in one direction with the grain. Do not over-brush.6. Let dry at least 2 hours then sand with very fine sandpaper (220 grit) to ensure an even finish and proper adhesion of additional coats. Do not use steel wool. Remove all dust.7. Apply a second coat. For additional coats, repeat Step 6 before applying. Three coats are recommended.8. After reading SEVERAL options on how to top coat a finished "diamond art",  I chose to go this route.  I will use a brush and do a SINGLE COAT and it will be dry in a few hours.  Still working on the painting, but I'm confident using a trusted brand!!

Used this for the first time to seal a custom painted headboard and was blown away by the results. Was easy to apply, dried fast and clear and made the colors pop.

So very easy to use! I make everything from home decorations to  corn hole boards to rustic deck coolers, this clear coat does it all! I use it to seal my corn hole boards and make the tops slick, it for sure does that, brush on with a synthetic brush (not roller or sponge) and depending on the level you want to achieve it can be slick as glass with some light sanding between coats, and when completing I use my buffer to bring it to mirror like finish,

This is definitely my go to and I haven't even mentioned drying time, I hate to wait! And this certainly keeps up with my impatience! Depending on humidity I've added coats in as little as an hour, I'm talking thick coats! It's astonishing how quickly this dries, this is the only clear coat I use now, polycrillic has made me a believer!

Ultra fast drying times, easy to use

I use this in my glitter tumblers. I would recommend using it with a syringe and to pour it i got it all over me. Rookie mistake

Great choice

Small amount goes a long way for projects. Used in the glitter ornament craft. Make sure to seal it properly!

Glossy works

I love this. It is sooo much easier to clean than polyurethane. It cleans up with water.  Not good for outside products. But the shine is better than the polyurethane as well and takes less coats

I use this Minwax Polycrylic on my diamond paintings. It seals them and keeps the diamonds from coming off. Nice clear coat and lets the sparkles shine thru. Excellent!

Wonderful product. My husband has been doing woodwork for well over 50 years and the things he makes always have this holes out on. We get lots of compliments about the quality

Wood gloss

Very wasy to apply and dries quickly to lihjt touch. I always wait the full cure time before handling other than curing storage. 

Its light and requires several coats for even and thorough protection. 

Was disappointed it didn't flatten out well while drying and made the coats thicker for this but prefer several thin coats by choice. 

It's a good product, no heavy fumes,   no bad oder. My DIY production line made good use of the quick dry to touch factor for sure. I didnt study it long, but I'm sure one needs to wait the full curing time before useing the item coated and agree it's best practice. I always give a minimum of 18 hours for this but tend to go 24.

Wish there was a less costly way to protect though as I'm always pinching pennys.

This worked for what it is meant for but I really wanted more of a sealer than what this provider. I needed a thicker coating for a some of my projects to make the stain last better and for more protection from dampness

Minwax Product Support

Table top painted with 3 coats of chalk paint. Dried for days. 
1st coat of polycrylic I used a foam brush, super light finish. Waited 14 hours. Sanded.
2nd coat used a small roller and it looked like there were some polycrylic bubbles so I let it dry, knowing I was going to sand. Waited 2 hours (can says you can ré-coat every two hours).
Sanded. Lots of little white dots came up from sanding. Weird. 
3rd coat, thicker amount of polycrylic. MAJOR PAINT bubbles.  What on earth? 
Was able to press a few out but then they popped right back up again. 
Waiting to see what happens in 2 hours but not impressed right now. Super worried this is going to ruin the whole project.
