Great Hood

We love that it doesn't sound like a jet plane taking off like our last vent fan. Bought it for the LED light feature and are satisfied with our purchase.

Noise level

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately this hood came to us not working.  It was installed and turns out that the motor is stuck.  The installation instructions were difficult to comprehend and the final steps installing the duct covers are contradictory.  The online video for this model say to do one thing and the written instructions say to do something else.  Neither instruction work with the design of the duct covers.  Working with my retailer to get the unit fixed or replaced.  I'm confident that GE will make this right.  We just got a bad hood.

Installed but doesn't work

I would avoid buying this hood as a recirculating hood until GE can figure out the charcoal filter issue. They recommend changing often but only sell 1 at a time to you. The hood takes 2 filters. They are also very tricky to install.

Filter Issues

Beware! Although the literature states that the hood works with a 7' 7 in. ceiling height, it does NOT. If you are using this hood for recycling air, not ducting outside, you need a 7' 10 in. ceiling height or the vents will be covered.  You learn this in the owner's manual AFTER you purchase it. You need a 24 in. outer duct and GE claims to not make one. Very disappointed to research this and be led astray.
