I was so excited by the description though weary of the impressive depth it claimed to find gold at.

Came with no instructions. 
Therefore, I was not sure if I was doing anything wrong.

I searched in my apartment and I had a jewelry box with gold jewelry in one corner. It did not find it and kept beeping and flashing different colors the same at all times including when I pointed it right at the gold with the now open jewelry box and then exactly the same when I touched the gold with the detector.  There was no difference on the gold or away from the gold.

The thing is if it was detecting gold, it was flashing red, blue and green light the entire time. AND not just green at times when I was close to or ON the gold.

Since you have 30 days to return at any Walmart location, you might want to try it anway. I would be interested in seeing other reviews. Great price if it does detect the gold!

Walmart staff told me that none of the 3-rd party vendor items are returnable by mail through Walmart.  You have to contact the vendor, or Walmart will do that on your behalf. The vendor will inform you if they will pay or you will pay for the shipping, but you need enough time remaining in the 30 days return-window to go that route!
