Price

I have used Zebco 33's since I was a youngster. They have always served me well. I am 70+ years old and I still enjoy using the Zebcos when I can go fishing. I like the newer design vs the older small crank handle. I only wish my local WalMart stocked the 33. I had to order mine on the internet since there was none within 75 miles from home. They even came loaded with Cajun line which is my favorite. GOOD JOB!

Not near the quality as the original. I have owned many of these over the years. The quality is continually dropping, of course the price goes up. The main thing I want to warn people about is the lack of room between the front spool cover and the mounting base. If you are planning to put this reel on a pole that has the thicker/stronger clamp on the reel seat, it will not work. I was on a camping trip with my grandson and had brought my poles and two new Zebco 33s. It took me 3  hours to whittle the clamp down with dull pocket knife. I was not happy about this! Buyer Beware!

Buyer Beware!

I'm absolutely thrilled with my Zebco 33 reels. Now mind you I'm not some crazed fishing nut who's very identity is wrapped up in having the right equipment. I just want to be able to bring my grandkids fishing, have good equipment that works that they can use, and I don't fight tangled lines all day. Zebco just can't be beat. I even tried a Shakespeare Rod&Reel combo - what a piece of junk. Zebco has updated these reels and I know the kids will use these for the next 20 years without trouble. Thank you Zebco and thanks Walmart for such an incredible price.

Absolutely thrilled

Have used the Zebco 33 user for years and years with very little maintenance on the reels.  I loved the updated handle and gear ratio and smooth casting. I own two of these and my wife  and son both have one as well.  However I have had much trouble with this specific model. The Zebco 33 Authentic Spincast Reel has  left me saddened for one reason only.  The bottom covers where the thumb release is have come off and falls in the water and now both my Zebco reels are useless! My son told me he had the same thing happen with his.  One of the reels had been having that trouble for quite some time, it would just pop off when I pushed the button.  When it fell in the boat or shallow water I would just retrieve it and put it back on, but in deep or fast moving water.... gone! I always made sure it was twisted on tight and in the right position but it would still the whole bottom cover of the reel would just keep popping completely off time and time again!

Come Zebco you can do better than this!

Not used yet, winter almost here. Feels good in the hand, simple operation which I want when I am fishing from my kayak. Baitcaster I like using, but when I'm sitting in a Kayak it's tangle after tangle. Need a simple reel which will take some knocks.

Works Fine

I originally purchased this reel at Wal-Mart, but exchanged it for the lower-priced Zebco 33 after speaking with Zebco and finding out that they are essentially the same reel, just different packaging! Well, I can't see paying $7 more just because one comes in a box rather than a plastic clam package.  When I compared the reels, sure enough, they're exactly the same. Im very happy with the reel I decided to keep. See my review of the lower-priced Zebco 33.
