The recline function on my rocker recliner broke a while back. I will eventually replace it with another one, but will need a more expensive, heavy duty one, due to being overweight, so it will take a while before I can swing the expense. Because of health issues, I sleep in the chair. I am able to stretch out enough because the still working rock function allows for adjusting the angle of the chair, but the chair was designed for a man's dimensions, so the angle of my legs is a little off, and uncomfortable. I need something a little higher than the floor to rest my feet on when sleeping. I tried a number of things around the house for foot rests, but they were too high. Because I did this, though, I was able to eliminate ottomans and hassocks from consideration when shopping for a foot rest, as they are too high.

I wanted something sturdy, wide, and adjustable, with a top that isn't hard, but not too high. This 3M foot rest has adjustable height, tilt, and can be made to rock to help circulation in your legs, and is not too high. It is very sturdy, and has a firm, but rubbery surface, that is not too hard, and also has rounded edges all around. It meets all of my requirements. When I finally do replace my rocker recliner, I won't need to use the foot rest with it, but I will put the foot rest under my desk, and set it to rock. I don't get up enough when I am at the computer, so the rock function will help my circulation some.

I realize that there are cheaper models out there, but they didn't meet all of my needs, so I went with this one. I only got it a few days ago, but I am able to sleep better now that I am using this foot rest, because my legs and feet are comfortable now. I have sleep apnea, which leaves me sleep deprived as it is, so having my uncomfortable legs and feet keep me from sleeping was a problem I needed to fix. Anything I can do to improve my sleeping conditions is important, so yes, I do recommend this product.

Good product

I bought this because I am vertically challenged and wanted to make sure I was ergonomically positioned while working at my desk.  I have had this for a while and it works great, I have had no problems or issues!

It's very big and sturdy, very good quality.  It will be left under our computer desk for years.  It will probably last longer than we do.   If you need it to adjust for height though, this is not it.

This footrest came ready to use right out of the box — no assembly needed. What stands out most is the wider footprint compared to most other footrests. Many on the market are so narrow that you constantly have to pull your legs in to sit properly, but this one allows a much more natural and comfortable sitting position. The adjustability is simple, and it stays put once set.

The construction is solid steel, not flimsy plastic, so it feels like a “for life” purchase that justifies its higher price. My only complaint is the surface: it has a sandpaper-like grit that's a bit overkill. While it keeps your feet from slipping, it can be uncomfortable if you're in socks or barefoot at home. Because of that, I'd rate it 4 stars instead of 5. Still, for comfort and durability, it's one of the best footrests I've used.

Sturdy, wide, and comfortable — built to last

It's adjustable where it can lock into place or move freely. It really helps when you have a chair that won't adjust to your desk. Sturdy being made out of metal versus the plastic one. Base firm where it doesn't move around on carpet.

Sturdy, functional

I purchased this for my work station and after only 3 months, I shifted my weight in my chair (I'm not a heavy person) and it cracked really loudly.  It has cracked a few additional times since then.  I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to use it before it has to be completely replaced.

Broke after 3 Months

So, I bought this in October 2012, thinking I was getting a durably constructed metal footrest. In point of fact, only the base is metal, while the footrest itself is plastic. It has been used daily since then, true enough — but no undue force has ever been applied to it, nor has it ever been subjected to kids or teens. (Also, I weigh less than 150 lbs.) This October I first noticed that the footrest had started seeming to sag. Inspecting it, I found two cracks: one in the exact center of the footrest, and a more severe one where the plastic bolted to one side of the base. I attempted to jury-rig it with an excess of Gorilla tape, but here we are mere weeks later and the rest has simply broken past the point of usability.
