Description & Features+

"We Are Marshall": Football is a game that knocks you down, then expects you to get back up. Life hit the West Virginia town of Huntington and its Marshall University even harder. When it did, Jack Lengyel came by to help pull them onto their feet by taking the job no one wanted: rebuilding the Marshall football program only months after a plane crash wiped out Marshall's beloved Thundering Herd. "Any Given Sunday": At the 50-year line of this gridiron cosmos is Al Pacino as Tony D'Amato, the embattled Sharks coach facing a full-on blitz of team strife plus a new, marketing-savvy Sharks owner (Cameron Diaz) who's sure Tony is way too old school. An injured quarterback (Dennis Quaid), a flashy, bull-headed backup QB (Jamie Foxx), a slithery team doctor (James Woods) and a running back with an incentive-laden contract (LL Cool J) also provide some of the stories that zigzag like diagrams in a playbook. "The Replacements": Keanu Reeves plays Shane Falco, a washed-out all-American QB who guides a team of misfits assembled by veteran coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman) to replace striking pro players. A motormouth receiver (Orlando Jones), a merciless linebacker (Jon Favreau), a nicotine-wired kicker (Rhys Ifans) and more line up alongside Falco for a drive to the playoffs. For sultry support, there's cheerleader Annabelle Farrell (Brooke Langton) and her ex-stripper squad. "Wildcats": Central High is an inner-Chicago combat zone that's sometimes called a school. It's home to the "Wildcats," a brawn-before-brains football team of rowdy rappers, bruisers and losers. What's Molly McGrath doing in a place like this? Coaching football, that what

4 Film Favorites: Football Collection - We Are Marshall / Any Given Sunday / The Replacements / Wildcats is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bought It for "The Replacements" Decent collection of Football movies. I bought it for "The Replacements". The other movies are a just a "bonus". "The Replacements" is a light hearted comedy about a team of underdogs brought in during the football strike. The characters are a lot of fun. "We Are Marshall" is an excellent movie. VERY well done. More serious. It's about an actual event where the entire football team was the victim of an airplane crash, and had to rebuild. Matthew McConaughey plays a great "out of character" role for him. "Wildcats" is fun, if you're a Goldie Hawn comedy fan. And "Any Given Sunday" is your typical melodramatic "football players are "supposed to" have attitude" kind of movie. (I played. But I don't remember the experience being THIS dramatic). (It's a "football" movie).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For fans of football films Bought this as part of a Christmas gift for a friend who is nuts about "The Replacements", so for the price you would pay for maybe one of these films, you get four! "Wildcats" with Goldie Hawn is an old favorite of mine, so that's probably the only one I'll watch when I visit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Football Fan Must Have Contains 4 separate DVDs in one package of classic football movies. My 15 year old son and my husband loved the movies. They immediately began watching. Clear picture. A must have for real football fans.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 4 Film Favorites: Football Collection One of the football moves has a rather sad ending that left a "unpleasant memory"--not advised to watch prior to going to sleep. Another film was comical and created laughter throughout movie.
