Ive only had the drill now for about a week but after using it for a few hours, i feel i should give my first impressions review. Im using it to screw in very large decking screws that i could not do by hand. Its powerful motor is excellent and I'm very pleased at its trigger control. You can adjust the speed easily just by controlling how hard you pull the trigger. Another common issue with many drills is the bit grip not being able to grip the bit well or the bit grip stripping. This drill does grip the bit well without the use of a key and i have not had any stripping with the bit provided. It has a turn lock thats easy to use and quick to change bits. I have not used round bits yet so I'm not sure how the bit grip works with them. The bit grip is rather large so if your drilling in say a hook then the bit grip will hit the hook and not allow you to put the screws all the way in so you need an extension bit to get the screw the rest of the way in. So on first impression i would suggest to get this one especially if it lasts as long as other people say it will. For driving in screws this drill is great. As for other tasks I'm not sure yet but i think this is a great starting drill.

If you looking for a well made drill to use on most DIY projects around home, this is it. It's powerful enough for most projects around home with out being too bulky. The keyless chuck makes changing bits quick and easy. The only drawback is the variable speed doesn't have an adjustable stop feature so it requires a light touch on the trigger to control the speed, which takes some practice to master. This drill is made for light - medium duty jobs so don't expect it to perform well on a job requiring a heavy duty drill. I bought this drill to replace an old Black and Decker drill which was very similar to this one that had lasted many years before giving up the ghost.

The Right Drill for most Home DIY projects

We were tired of having a dead battery so we got a corded drill and it has way passed our expectations. The power is the most we have ever had and it is light weight and easy to handle. By far the best deal yet!

Best Drill around

Bought this to screw together cedar boards for raised beds. It worked great and now will be used to put on new cabinet hardware.

It isn't the fanciest drill on earth, but for this price it is a bargain!

I am still wondering why I paid 4 times as much for a drill that didn't even last a day when this one, cheap as dirt, has been giving me the ultimate pleasure of drilling sand, rocks, and steal? It's going and going

surprisingly great

Exact what I need for many small chores around house. I borrowed my friend this type of power drill, and I loved after. So I bought my own. I got this online, it was on sale. It is so handy, I used it to hang shelf boxes to the wall for my child's room, hang photos, secure book case to the wall, assembly furnitures. Can't list them all.
Have had it for a months, never let me down.
In short, awesome price and quality and functions.

... but at this price it's a great drill and a good value. If you think you're going to get a $100 drill for this price, that's your fault not the drill's fault. If you're looking for a drill or driver for weekend projects, some casual remodeling or just because you've gotten tired of your cordless drill being out of batteries just when you need it most- This is the drill you're looking for. If you're a professional contractor who needs to use a drill for 8+ hours a day and you buy a $20 drill then you're not real bright and you're not going to be happy with this drill.

There's an even cheaper model drill sold by Walmart and made by Blaclk & Decker, I didn't buy that because I DO need a reasonably powerful and dependable power tool but I don't need it that often or for that long. This drill will spend 80% or more of it's life hung on my wall. When I need it I need it and there is no reason I'd spend a lot of money on a power tool just to have it hang on a wall. This is the perfect drill for MY purposes.

So far I've used this tool to power a 5" hole saw, drive the biggest deck screws I can find (and it drives those screws so hard I have to be careful not to counter-sink them too far and go through the wood I'm driving them into), and drill holes through metal and wood. It doesn't even breath hard doing what I use it for. It blows through the tasks I have for it like they were nothing.

I bought this drill because I got tired of my cordless having battery issues every couple of years. I wanted something that if I NEED to run through a wall with a big hole saw I don't run out of battery halfway through the job. This drill does great for that kind of thing and it's cheaper than a single new battery for my cordless.

There are places and times when all that will do is a cordless battery powered tool. For everything else, this drill is a great choice. It's not a professional contractor's power tool but it's a great tool for a home owner, hobbyist or DIYer.

I see from other reviews some people complain about the key-less chuck It does as well as the key-less chuck on my Craftsman cordless drill. If you have the good sense to use this drill within it's designed parameters you're going to have no more problem with it than I have. I've had no problem with it at all.

Don't buy a $20 & something drill if you need to modify the frame on a stock car, install multiple floors of metal studs in a high rise building, or cut through several inches of high tensile steel. By a $20 & something drill like this if you need to get work done that a cordless drill would do if it didn't run out of battery and you'll like this drill. I do.

This is not a top end drill ...

Nice drill, not too heavy. Was using a power pack drill until it would not charge anymore. Got tired of having to charge the drill when needed. This is much better!

Black and Decker 3/8" 5-amp Variable Speed Drill

Great drill. Like the fact that it has a cord and I don't have to continue to recharge the battery. Had one like this before until the chuck came off after many years of use. Replaced it with the same one. Very dependable.

inexpensive power drill

Good drill, works as expected. Light weight for odd jobs, replaces older B&D.
Variable speed trigger somewhat difficult to keep at low speed.
Happy with unit.

Wroks well

I really wanted a corded drill and I have owned Black and Decker in the past. This drill is just awful. The bit they provide is worthless. The chuck doesn't want to tighten and the bit just wobbles. It's near impossible to get it to stay tight and not loosen.
