I used a Japanese made one before, this one works similarly well.  Time will tell about its reliability.

This is an excellent water boiler.  It was a gift for a friend who has used several other brands through the years and she is absolutely besotted with this one.  I highly recommend this boiler.

Once we were able to figure out how to keep it from boiling past our set point it worked like magic. We used it in our football concessions stand for hot chocolate water and were able to keep up with demand while not burning customers.

i loved everything about it, except when you open the lid to fill it,  water that gets caught up in the lid gets all over the counter. And not just a few drops.  I would have returned it but I love everything else about it.

This product does what you need it to and it holds a good amount of water. 
I don't like a few things about it though. 1. The temperature is in celsius. There is no way to change it. 2. The water HAS to boil first. You cannot simply warm it to the temperature that you set it to. It will boil first and then keep it at the temp set. This means that the water is almost always far too hot. 
3. You cannot remove the water pot for filling, dumbing, or cleaning. That is a pain. 

It does the job though and was on the cheaper side of the ones of the same size that I was looking at.

I had one for 10 years!! I decided to order this new one. Everything working perfectly fine except one thing. My water has this plastic smell that doesn't go away. I been using it for a month now and it still smells. I really hope it will go away soon. Overall it's very convenient to have hot water all the time. I love how you can set temperature you need from boiling to warm. Really good product.

I don't know how it works. It looks fine.  It is just too big for one household

The heater produces water with a noticeable and increasing rusty taste, which suggests internal corrosion or contamination. This raises serious concerns about product quality and safety. I would not recommend this unit

I've only been using it for a few months and it can't boil hot water
