These Drives Are Amazing Technology

This is a great drive for my purposes; I am using it for nightly automatic backups of my laptop.  It beats everything else I can find for the price for this purpose.

Excellent drive for backups.

Works well, easy setup multiple VHDX drives on the external hard drive, and then I mount them to my C:/folder on windows 11 and automount them to start when I login. 

So far, my only complaint is how short the cord is. I have mine connected to a desktop PC, not a laptop, so if you need this for a laptop this will not be an issue. My tower is tall, (Alienware), the usb ports both in the front and back are towards the top of the tower which leaves the external hard drive dangling. I used industrial strength double sided velcro and attached it to the side of my tower to avoid leaving it dangling. For that reason, I gave a 4, instead of 5 star review.

Works great BUT desktop setup  please read this

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This hard drive is just what I needed. It's the right form factor size and was very easy to setup. The only problem that I've had with it since I purchased it is that it has slightly slowed down the performance of my computer, but overall it's hasn't made caused me to have too many performance issues. Otherwise, for the price and the quality of this hard drive I give it about 8 stars.

I was excited to see a solution to storing and accessing a massive game library, but this drive simply does not have the speed to play games directly off the drive. From very basic to advanced games I noticed episodes of lag spikes and it a few games even skipping. I thought this may have been my internet connection, but this would occur even with offline games. As another test, I uninstalled the internet games off the this drive and re-installed them on my computer's built-in hard drive and had no issues. The concept of this drive is great, have a way to store and access a massive game library, however, as it stands this drive is good for nothing more than storing data. I'm giving 3 stars because it's actually a decent external hard drive and would probably give 5 if it was marketed as an external hard drive rather than as something which it clearly fall short of...

A regular external hard drive...

This is merely a storage drive. You can not play media stored here. You have to transfer back and forth between the main system harddrive and this external drive.

Storage Only

WD Black P10 5TB Drive went on sale so I took a chance.  Unfortunately the drive was already opened and previously used.  It appears to be a legitimate 5TB WD drive, but nowhere on the listing did it indicate that these were used drives.

Used Drive

You cannot download anything onto this. It does not give your game system extra storage or anything. It says it works with PS fives but it does not. It only works if you're trying to do PS4 games and if you do download PS4 games, you cannot move them over to your PS five. It's just a waste of money.

Do not buy

I've had this drive for over a year. It is not failed, but I'm giving it one star because of latency is just absurdly slow. I have never had a hard drive the constantly cycles down and takes eight seconds to access and write to folders.  It's not worth the headaches.
