The two 8-outlet surge protectors I purchased replaced two sets of daisy chained power strips. The hazards of the inexpensive power strips is becoming all too well known through disasters resulting from overloads and inferior construction. In addition, we recently had a power failure with our local utility. The power went out twice in fairly rapid succession and in the process somehow caused a software issue with my computer that required repair by my IT service. Tripp-Lite is known as a manufacturer of quality products, and I'm glad to have the protection and convenience of combining all my loads directly through the two new surge protectors. The outlet layout was spacious enough for all the transformers and two and three-pronged plugs, and all my wiring basically disappeared with some creative routing.

Well designed surge protectors

An audio professional recommended this surge protector for my home theater, to protect my AVR, subwoofer, TV, PS3, Nintendo Switch, etc. His recommendation was based on two factor: clamping voltage (RMS) of 140 volts (hard to beat that spec!) and 4 isolated filter banks. Top-quality construction and plenty of space around each outlet are also beneficial, as is the touted Tripp Lite support team. So far, so good - plenty of peace-of-mind now, and protection against virtually any surge (short of a direct lightning strike!).

I use this product to protect my computer as well as my xbox, before using the Isobar, I had my old powerbar plugged into what i thought was a safe outlet, only to find out after plugging in my isobar that it wasn't a safe power outlets and through further investigation there was no ground wire installed. Thanks Tripp Lite for letting me know about my faulty power outlet!

Best Power strip (box) ever

This is an excellent, high quality surge protector. I have several of these and I do not have to worry about my equipment being damaged. I have used less quality, cheaper surge protectors that did NOT protect my equipment. Customer service is awesome, no hassle, and an excellent team of professionals. I have, and will, continue to purchase Tripp Lite brands.

Quaility, excellent performance, and A+ customer service

I have used Isobar product since the early 2000's or so and have never had an issue with the product. It isolates frequensied that normally would cause bleed over from another piece of equipment. If your equipment is valuable to you then spend the money for a good surge protector.

Worth every penny.

I have been using various Isobar surge protectors for a great number of years in our home. They are utterly reliable. I have an 8 outlet Isobar strictly for my wife two sewing machines. They are high end/expensive computer controlled machines. I have another Isobar unit connected to medical equipment in the bedroom. This last purchase of an 8 outlet Isobar was made to protect a new computer and multifunction printer/scanner/fax. The Isobar is very robust and heavy. There is nothing flimsy about it. Compared to what is available at office supply stores, the only common sense approach I could make was to choose Isobar from Tripp-Lite. Our electronics deserve the best.

I would buy this product again and again.

We are exploiting all the features of this unit at the soundboard booth at our church: the 12' cord (11' needed!), the rear mounting holes (we mounted on a wooden backplate for easy install and removal), the durable metal construction (it may get kicked under the table, even though it's 2' off the floor), the number of outlets and the relatively high protection (joules) for the price. I've used similar TrippLites for years, never disappointed! One improvement could be provided by TrippLite: ship a paper template of the mounting screws! I had to make my own with a "pencil rubbing". Works, but annoying.

Best Features

I purchased about 10 of this device for electromagnetic interference suppression, since I have an HF amateur radio. I also have about 10 ISOBLOK, and two of the hi-fi power strips, and Corcom wire-in suppressors in the electrical boxes for my ceiling lighting fixtures. This is one of the few plug-in UL-approved products available that is specified for EMI suppression. It should be noted that there is a better product available for surge-suppression, made by Brickwall, but it costs many times more than this unit. The Brickwall blocks surges inductively, and does not have any perishable components, while the Tripp-Lite uses metal oxide varistors, which sacrifice themselves when they take a large enough surge.

One of the few products available for EMI suppression

Built like a tank and has plenty of outlets for all my equipment, but I wish the outlets were more spread out or configured differently. With big wall wart plugs, it's not so easy fit everything into the power strip.

Great, but...

Solid metal construction. Long cord. Well spaced oulets. Only complaint, i wish that several if not all outlets were rotated 90 degrees. Many plugs, my phone charger for example is wide and covers up an unused outlet.

Excellent

Pro's -all metal housing -good suppression electronics -good filtering electronics Con's -cord stiff (should have used rubber cord) -makes a low frequency buzzing noise -outlets are too close together for some transformer plugs -no 10 plug version -does not say country of manufacture Seems to be a good surge/filter bar. For the price I think it should come with a rubber cord like SJOW, the outlets should also be spaced about 1 inch extra between each other. The buzzing noise could have possibly been eliminated by putting silicone on the coils? I would still recommend this product for someone looking for a decent filter/surge bar. And hopefully Tripp Lite will improve these shortcomings.
