I bought this probably a good 3-4 months ago and its doing just fine so far. As far as volume is considered it gets pretty darn loud. I actually bought it as a replacement for my car speakers because my main console died and I didn't want to spend the money to buy another when I'm gonna be getting a new car soon. As far as setup is concerned its super easy. It has two connection methods to your media source. 1) is the wireless blue-tooth which you only have to sync once with your device and than from that moment on it instantly detects the device whenever they are near. 2) There actually is a wired connection so you can plug the speaker directly into a phone or other media source (which really comes in handy sometimes) in case you would rather not use the bluetooth or your media source doesn't have that capability. One thing I've noticed using the bluetooth on this device is that it can get very spotty. Like sometimes it will just freeze and lag and skip during your songs this is specific to the blue tooth connection though if you plug the device in you never have this issue. However I'm not sure if this has to do with my phone's software or the speakers or if this is just a well documented issued with blue tooth. I don't know but it would be a deal breaker if I couldn't plug the device in. Also it doesn't always happen it seems to happen randomly but more often when I'm on the road. So if you're using it in a stationary location like your home or office it will likely occur less for you. I tried to figure out if it was the phone or the speaker by loaning it to a friend who had an apple Iphone 6s+ (as I have a budget phone) and she said it worked fine for her and she reported no issues so this may only be an issue with certain phones or versions of bluetooth.

Now I usually use this device in my car but I have also used it in my home and let me tell you. This thing gets LOUD. I was playing this thing in my living room and could hear it clearly in every room in my household (people actually asked me to turn it down) plus there is just about NO distortion on its playback even at max volume. I could probably count the instances of distorted sound I recall experiencing on one hand. Strangely though, I still found myself wanting to do stereo with another speaker in my car and sadly this is not possible with this device :(
So if stereo sound is high on your list stay away from this speaker and go with the smaller ones. I forget their names but 808 makes several other speakers which are stereo sound compatible.

One thing I should mention is the sound on this thing is pretty interesting. Its very tailored to lots of BASS so if you like playing dub step or gangsta rap or other bass heavy music than you're in good company, but I have found that all that bass tends to drown out the higher ends of certain pieces of music so if you're not a huge fan of the bass parts of songs you might want to look at another speaker.

It also has a rechargeable Li-ion battery that charges in something like 4hours. So less wasteful than disposable but then again when that battery DOES die you probably have to throw out the whole thing.

Super Bass, Super loud, Spotty Bluetooth

i am rating this at 5 stars at the $77, or now reduced $55 & $59 price at walmart. Even at $77 there is no louder or better sound quality portable speaker in the price range ... & for the now $59 price it is an EXTREMELY good deal. It is not super loud, but loud enough to sound good & satisfy in any decent sized bedroom. Sound quality is excellent & clear & on par with any speaker around $100 or less. works fast & efficient with bluetooth (connected/paired to my LG G3 in literally 2 seconds). I would rate in order of QUALITY speakers in the market in this order ... this one HEX 808, next step up of noticable volume difference would be the jbl charge 2 ($100-150), & after that the harman kardan onyx studio ($150-250) or jbl xtreme ($250-300) - harman kardan is of higher quality & louder than the extreme but you can find it for around 100 less. ... but again, for anything under $100, & ESPECIALLY for $59 this 808 HEX is an AWESOME deal & perfect for any size bedroom &/or front/living room (won't rock the house but has good/satisfying volume & will sound clear & bass is present/noticable)

excellent quality for $100 or less...

Deserves a 4.5 rating but there are no partial ratings available. This is a great speaker. It's crisp, clear and has a really smooth and good base. I don't hear any distortion when the volume is full blast. It is limited on how high you can increase the volume on the unit itself. With any device there is a limit but I think this one should have been a bit higher on the speaker itself. You'll have to adjust the volume on the device providing the input.

I just bought it at the store. The quality of the sound is nice and clear. I wish it would be a little louder but it certainly does the job. Easy to pair with my Galaxy S6. Very pleased with it.

Great product

Bad design. Micro-usb port for charging is soldered directly to a circuit board. A pulled cord, or inserting micro-usb cord to firmly and it breaks free. Now, youve got a paper-weight.
