This show is definitely not for kids. It's about a group of child soldiers, fighting against waves of mechanized drone spider soldiers. It's brutal, raw, and darkly psychological. The story is pretty decent, even though it was written by an author with no combat experience.  It's also chock full of references that are in the print novels. Some of the plot themes are a little juvenile to me, but according to NATO I qualified as a child soldier; so I might be judging it a bit harshly.

That said, the story is good. The mechanized action scenes are great. The underlying psychology of why people fight and how they bond in close quarters shows up, as well as the nagging hopelessness of having to partake in pointless missions. 

The soundtrack and background music score is also really, really, good.
