Tamiya paints are legendary for their superior airbrushing quality and super-fast dry time. There are times, however, when fast isn't necessarily better. Sometimes the job requires going in and doing the job with a standard brush, and therein lies the problem--the paint dries almost faster than you can apply it. The Retarder is specially formulated to help smooth out brush strokes and slow the dry time, giving you more time to get the paint job done. A definite must for model makers who love their Tamiya paints, but also want to keep their options open as to application methods.
