I wanted a Bluetooth speaker and found this cool Supersonic radio.  It arrived safely today by USPS in a padded bubble mailer, box inside the mailer.  It comes with a USB cable and the cellphone type BL-5C 3.7v 600mAh battery.  It can run on 3 AA batteries but those aren't included. 

The Bluetooth is easy to pair with a cellphone.  Activate the Bluetooth on the phone and slide the switch on top of the radio to "MP3/BT".  A blue light flashes on the radio.  I'm listening to an oldies radio station streaming from an app on my phone.  

The sound for a little speaker is of course not comparable to the sound from a bigger speaker but it's decent for the size. 

I haven't any music stored on SD cards so I couldn't test that function.  

 I've tested it with the whip antenna and with a clip on antenna wire/reel that attaches to the whip.  The reception on the FM stations with the clip on antenna was noticeably better, but I could receive the stations without the clip on, just not as clearly.  AM didn't pull almost anything without the clip on and need to explore AM more with the clip on antenna.  The AM band is very weak in my location in the hills between Fresno and Yosemite without an outdoor loop antenna.  The same for shortwave. 

 Shortwave band 1 starts at 4.75mhz on this radio and at this end of the spectrum, shortwave propagates best in the evening.  Shortwave Band 7 winds up at 22.0mhz.  Listening at this end of the spectrum may be best in the morning.  A clip on antenna extension would help.  Mine is 22feet long and rolls up on a reel. Overall this is a very nice compact little radio.  It lacks a headphone jack so if you want to listen privately, that option is lacking.  However for the price, it has some great features in a compact size.  

The BL-5C battery can be replaced, extras are available on Walmart website and elsewhere. Or you may prefer to operate it on 3AA batteries.  

The cell type BL-5C battery recharges using the supplied USB cord.  There is no ordinary electric plug with the radio, it just runs on batteries or possibly plugged into a USB port on computer or wall adapter.  I haven't tried that yet but saw a video on using the radio that showed someone doing it, with the batteries removed.  If the battery is installed and the radio is plugged into a USB jack, it's supposed to recharge the BL-5C battery.  I haven't done that yet because the battery arrived charged and ready to use. 

If you want a compact Bluetooth speaker that also includes radio and an MP3 player, the price is worth a try.  I'm glad I found it.

Mighty Mouse of today's little radios. Lotsa goodies comes with it. I still prefer the vintage but this one operates in batteries too so it's good.

Unfortunately the longevity of the rechargeable battery is pretty poor! I live in a cold climate right now so maybe to be wxpected

You get what you pay for!

It does not pick up any, none, zip, shortwave stations (it's possible that there are none broadcasting but unlikely) Also there is a constant whine in the background which I put down to a lack of quality filters although not being a radio tech this might not be the problem and no, I am not using it under fluorescent lights which I know can cause that.
