Massive heat sync will allow NVME drives to run at full speed!  You can run RAID through the BIOS or configure the BIOS for JBOD and run RAID in the OS.  I believe that you must run RAID0 through the BIOS if you want it to be your OS drive.  There are docs on that if you're using an ASUS Motherboard.  You have to manually inject the RAID drivers when installing the OS.

I'm running a Threadripper system so for starters, I don't have issues with lack of PCIe lanes. With setups like this, you'll NEED what only pro desktop platforms can offer.. or you're just spending money for performance you'll never see. I'm currently using up 48 CPU PCIe lanes, at least 16 more in the future with add-on's. Just running PCIe Gen3 NVMe for now but in RAID0 max Write is 7.6 GB/s and max Read is 8.14 GB/s as reported by ATTO Disk Bench (default settings) for my 4x WD 750 1st gen series NVMe. I'll switch to 4x 1TB NVMe Gen4 in a RAID0 in the near future for even greater performance. I love the card but wish it was about 3/4 as long (or half) as it is... it's designed to accommodate extremely long 22110 form-factor NVMe, so ALL the slots are created at a 45 degree angle BUT when will these super long NVMe ever exist? Even 4TB NVMe are still available in the much shorter 2280 spec... so HAD this card just been designed as compact as possible for 2280 form-factor NVMe, it'd half the length it is... which would take up less space in your system, do the same thing BUT allow air to move around in your system quite a bit more freely. I'd think that IF anyone ever needed a card like this to install the 22110 style NVMe, Asus could have just built THIS product for them alone... and offered everyone else a more compact model. Works perfect otherwise!! I hope that when Asus makes the PCIe Gen5 version of this card... they skip support for 22110 NVMe and make the card a lot smaller. Hint hint ;-)

Excellent Card, Super Fast but... is it too big?

I purchased this card to replace my HYPER M.2 X16 gen 3 card as I have switched to Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD's and using the gen 4 with 4 raided drives the throughput is insane! If you need to move large amounts of data quickly or want lighting fast response this is the card for you but only if you are using gen 4 SSD's and your MB supports gen 4!!

WOW now this is FAST!!!

Quality product. Performs as advertised....The quality heatsink keeps the tempereture of the drives well below 35 celcius, much lower than onboard M.2 drives.

Best addon card ove bought for my motherboard

Using the card for non-raid expansion.  Works great with my ASUS motherboard.  Drives installed are much cooler than those installed on my motherboard.

Poorly documented manual, tech sheet, and pre-purchase details with near zero excuses for not better explaining the system requirements even for their own motherboards.  While the card works well per ventilation, mounting, and is even quiet per the fan, using it as designated is completely dependent upon your motherboard and CPU combo.  And this isn't like saying "if you don't have the latest BIOS or gear".  No.  This is fully dependent upon a full design where you spec out exactly which slots may or may not support this kind of configuration.  

The baseline is that they intend this to reside in the same slot where most of us would put our GPUs.  Given that you probably won't be doing that, you now are left w/ an expansion board that supports x4 M.2 drives, but you might only be able to use 1 or 2.  And you MUST then check your motherboard to see which slots support how many bifurcations.  And if you've never heard the word bifurcations before, then don't buy this card.

I think this boards cooling design represents a solid effort and gives us a path toward something that I appreciate.  The airflow really is great compared to motherboard mounted M.2 devices.  It keeps the (sadly) one drive I'm able to use in it very cool.  20C cooler than on the motherboard.  

And while I would have appreciated having this work for 4 drives, I can make do (for now) with one in it and just solve my overheating problem.  Let's just hope that future CPU/Mobos combos out in 2022 support bifurcation in a better way than current chipsets do while also allowing you to actually use any modern GPU.

Great airflow.  Purposefully bad sales copy.

Card is beautiful. Tech support said it works with my Maximus XIII Hero mobo. But not what I expected. Wanted an M.2 RAID 10 but only got 2 M.2's showing up. Returned the card for a refund. Tech support no help, didn't know the first thing about the card.

Misses the mark

I had to call Asus my Asus X-570 MB would not even recognize the card. I sent it back very disappointed ask my stuff is Asus this is the first thing that hasn't worked. Device manager did not even see it but the bios was set.
