I've found battery life to be ok, overheating is an issue but manageable and 2230 m.2 drive is a little annoying for upgrading. I have found solutions to all of the above and you've already addressed in the new Ally X. I waited so long to get the z1 extreme. I'm enjoying as much as I thought I would. Awesome product

ROG Ally Z1 Ally

My experience with the set up was like any other, with anything getting set up takes a minute with downloading everything and registering everything. However, the set up with the ROG Alley was quick, easy, simple. While things are downloading in the background learning the layout was pretty cool and easy, genuinely satisfied with what I can do with just one or two buttons. I have a steam deck and lenovo legion go. I'd say ROG, steam deck, switch, then lenovo. This isn't me glazing asus, im not being paid, I think yall have outdone yourself with this model. I am very glad I got this model and not the Xbox scam models. For half the cost I am having the time of my life! I think I will be using this more than my pc, now adays pc are getting expensive, my pc rn is running on windows 10 and can't go any higher, I wanted a new graphics card and new ram but my god for it to be compatible with anything is a nightmare, what if my mother board isn't compatible or what if my CPU is outdated (which that is also outdated too...) Hopefully maybe one day yall can help me out with that... I love yall

Darn Good!

I’ve never gamed on a PC. I recently decided to pick up the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme. My mind is blown, it’s such a great machine. I’ve downloaded 4 games and it runs them flawlessly. The graphics are amazing, it’s quick to load and very fast FPS. I highly recommend this as a beginner or a veteran gamer.

My introduction to PC gaming

Handheld performs well with most games but does need to be plugged in so turbo mode can work. I notice sudden FPS drops and some hardware issues. Higher tier AAA games can runt without being plugged into power. Madden runs like crap on it. Helldivers isn't bad just needs to be plugged in, war hammer ran “ok”. I would recommend this device if you can get it on discount. Otherwise just buy the new rog ally x as they have fixed some of the issues im experiencing. Still a 4/5 star device.

Asus Rog Ally Z1 Extreme Review

Quite an effective machine that is unfortunately paired with windows which is a terrible operating system for gaming.  Move to a steamos compatible operating system.  The SD card reader was faulty but they did replace it for free.  It's probably better than most windows competition.

Great system, except the SD card slot was broken. Other then that it works great!
Performance is a bit hit or miss but is still impressive for such a tiny system

Amazing device with some flaws, the battery doesn’t last very long, so I’ll need a power bank or being close to an outlet, micro sd problem is known, minor inconvenience but it’s there!
Other than that the device is premium, easy to setup, easy to use, great audio quality, I carry mine everywhere I go!

I love my purchase so far. I owned a steam deck previously which was also really great, but a lot less powerful. 

The Ally X plays everything I want flawlessly with the performance settings and the games look great with all the settings I can tweak to make the graphics shine.

My only gripe is that it has some really weird software issues like the controls will stop working if I wake up my ally x and go back mid game, the sleep function not working unless I manually find sleep option on windows log in, and some other issues. 

This thing is really close to being perfect once the software issues are handled.

Powerful device with flaws

Great PC handheld. It literally does everything i want it to. The screen is just big enough that i can do everything comfortably, and yet just small enough to make it compact! I like how most of the hardware can be modified so that you can make it your own. All the other PC handhelds are ok, but this one does it all. The only thing i can say that i dont like is battery life ( which the battery is replaceable with a better one ) so idk why they couldnt have put a bigger battery in to begin with. But besides that i have no gripes!

My ally has had a problem with duplicating monitors.  I reached out to asus & after help, I was told to wait days for help. I factory reset. It worked. I was told to update armory crate & the problem came back. Still waiting on help. Disappointed & disgusted with help.
