I've used NetGear for about 10 years, two different routers, the most recent an XR-1000…this recent ASUS purchase isn't something I've regretted…it simply works! I'm glad I switched!

Researched Routers and purchased the ASUS RT-AX88U PRO. I realize it is more router than I need however I wanted to buy a new product not an outdated one. Very simple to setup, great guide to follow, recognized all 20 of my wifi smart devices automatically. Set-up another two devices, the providers wifi unit would not recognize. Awesome product.

Asus RT-AX88U PRO

I considered the RT-AX88U (1 WAN, 8 LAN, 2 USB) an excellent and relatively handsome home router. The RT-AX88U Pro (1 WAN, 1 WAN/LAN, 4 LAN, 1 USB) remains a safe choice as a home router, but is not a significant upgrade to the RT-AX88U. Unfortunately, I can't say I see any Pro software features added with the addition of the Pro in the name. The only real changes exists in certain hardware features. ( Example: Mult-Gig Lan and Wan ports / faster processor). Considering WIFI 7 is almost here, we might have expected the addition of WIFI 6E as a minimum at this router. Sadly, it remains at the same WIFI 6 standard as the non pro version that was release several years earlier. I would not encourage persons to change from the RT-AX88U to the RT-AX88U Pro unless you absolutely needed the Multi-Gig ports, and you did not mind being confined to a soon outdated WIFI standard. The RT-AX88U was release some time in 2019 and will not receive firmware updates once ASUS moves this to a discontinued product. There are better options existing for those seeking a more well rounded home router with newer WIFI standards. That includes options from ASUS such as the ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000, be it very ugly, large and octopus like. Turn it over and watch it stand on 8 legs. Note: the GT-AXE16000 Antennas are not removable or user replaceable. Asus remains one of my favorite companies for home routers.

Awesome router. Works well with a stable connection. Then why only 3 stars? The web gui doe snot load properly on safari browser. Forced to use the phone app to set it up. ASUS please fix web gui.

Two support chats disconnected due to Asus "loss of connectivity."  Two phone calls disconnected due to Asus loss of connectivity. They didn't even try to reconnect or get back in touch. Email support is worthless because they want you to write an encyclopedia on what went wrong along with the history of the networking industry. All of this seems intentional, to discourage or avoid providing support. A clear breach of various warranties.
