August Smart Lock is the best I've come across. I have three of them, making this one my fourth. The price for this version is the least expensive I've seen.

Make your Dumb Deadbolt Smart!

We have had an older August lock, now known as Smart Lock Pro + Connect, on our front door for several years.  It worked great. The only drawback was that the Connect had to be reset occasionally because of lost communication with the lock. (It was the first gen. model, so they may have improved since.) Regardless, the new lock solves that problem with an all-in-one solution. It's smaller and seems more sturdy. My favorite features are the auto-lock and auto-unlock. It unlocks as I approach so I only have to turn the handle to open the door. No fumbling with keys, typing in codes, or even having to tap the lock. Then it automatically locks after we leave. I never found any other Lock that had these features and such a simple design. From the outside no one knows that it's any different from a normal deadbolt. There are so many aspects about it that I like I could go on and on. I can't think of any negatives. I recommend it for anyone!

Nice upgrade. The other one broke. Customer support needs improvement.
I was told that my Outside lock was not compatible with any of these locks because it was not long enough even though I have been using it for years and that I had to change it. The new one is working just fine and so much smaller.

New wifi august lock

I’m a big tech guy, so a product has to have a real wow factor to impress me.  After reading many reviews like this one, I took a leap of faith and purchased a August lock for my new home build.  The setup was super easy, the fit and function is perfect. I had the lock installed and set up in 15 mins.   I was concerned about the Geo fence, but I have to say,  9 times out of 10 my door is unlocking as I walk up to it.

Great advances in lock systems

I bought this to replace an aging v2 august lock. I now have an unused connect module, but this new lock connects just fine and the lock/unlock action is better than my older lock. Just wish they used std batteries instead of those 123 ones that don't get stocked everywhere

Sierra Hotel

The lock was as easy to install and setup as was advertised, which is often not the case. I have an old wooden door and was unsure if the lock would fit correctly inside, but the package included an extra oversized plate that worked great and also looks good on the door. The Wifi setup and lock settings were some of the easiest I've ever done. So far, the remote open/close of the lock has worked quickly and reliably. It's a well engineered product.

Works as advertised

So far so good. Took me 3 hrs to calibrate just because I was turning the lock too hard so the machine thought my door was always not lock completely. But that’s just because I turned too hard during calibrating. For a old house, it might took some time to install. But! Amazing features and such. Feel pretty satisfied. 
However, it can only use 2.4ghz internet because it needs to battery life efficient. In order to use 5ghz internet, u need to separately purchase the bridge. That’s very stupid. You are basically just reducing a product’s feature. I bought this lock so I don’t have to have a separate WiFi bridge, but it turns out, in order for battery long life, u still need the bridge. For me, this WiFi smart lock is not a new product, it’s just a reduced feature lock but for higher price.

Auto lock and unlock

I'm a smart lock pro upgrader. Compare to the smart lock pro, I face lot of setup issue. e.g like firmware upgrade fail. Door sen position not detected as prevent no issue on smart lock pro. I hope August can iron out the software issue that user can have a happy experient.

Wi-FI Smart Lock

I need a lock like this at my second home in the mountains.   Unfortunately, I needed to buy a second one because the first one failed ... in a very inconvenient way for a friend who had driven 2 hours to stay there and couldn't get in because the lock failed.  When I tried to resolve the problem, the only "support" I could find was to ask a web bot a question.   For common questions this is great, but for debugging problems, it is terrible.

Because of the lack of easy support and the fact that the lock failed with no notice at a terrible time for my friend, I cannot recommend this product in the future.

Great Lock ... But ...

I have a few issues.  

One - not having an exterior control is annoying.  I used to have a key pad and now I am forced to use a deadbolt with my August lock.  The way the controls work, I am constantly locked out and forced to unlock with my phone or a key.  I wish there was a lock and unlock button on the front.  

Two - leads me to my second issue.  The Auto Unlock requires you to leave a certain perimeter before it engages.  I use the auto lock (because I can’t lock it from the outside without getting out a key or phone) and so if I take the garbage out or run to my car, it auto locks but then can’t auto - unlock.  I with I could set the perimeter radius myself but I can’t.  Or I wish the autolock worked based on the same radius.

Three - the autolock is not very intelligent.  It is just on a timer and then locks.  For me, it locks when the door is open, which is super annoying. Then my young kid tries to close the door and the deadbolt slams into the frame.  Again, locking based on distance away would be better.  

Overall, I regret buying this lock.  But it was pretty expensive, I already installed it, and I threw out the packaging long ago.  So I guess I’m stuck.
