ACASIS 2-bay external array 2.5 USB 3.0 to SATA hard drive RAID chassis, EC72352, this dual-bay SATA HDD array enclosure supports up to 6TB HDD and 12TB memory expansion with dual HDDs.   Regarding the disk array box, it has 4 modes, under the JBOD mode, you do not need to specifically back up the data, in the other three modes, there will be formatting after transferring, so for your data security, you must first back up your hard disk data. This works. Not gonna lie I was kinda surprised.

The surface of the enclosure looks like it scratches easily, so be careful while handling it.

The drive get screwed in so they don't move around, but do note that you may have to have the drive you're fixing be on the bottom, as they can shift away from the screw hole if you're trying to secure them while they're on the top side. Once secured I haven't had any issues with movement at all.

The dip switches work the same as other enclosures of a similar nature. Configuring the drive was a bit tricky, since there's no confirmation button or anything, and the instructions were somewhat helpful. You just need to connect the device to power, flip the switches in the configuration you want, and it does its thing. I had to initialise the disk in Windows before I could format it to be used as my Macbook's time machine.

All in all, this works. It's a bit janky for the little assembly it requires, and I wouldn't buy new SSDs for this, but it might be a way to make use of your smaller drives. I'm happily using my 2x500GB drives as a 1TB Time Machine backup with no issues so far after about 2 weeks of use.
