Lynette Eason yet again brings an incredible and intense romantic thriller with Acceptable Risk, the story of Army member and investigative journalist Sarah Denning and ex-military and now private contractor Gavin Black.

When Gavin rescues Sarah and a group of kidnapped students in the Middle East, the two find themselves thrown together back in the States to figure out what is happening with veterans who suddenly commit suicide, including Sarahs brother Dustin.

As they face attempted murders, hostage situations, shootings, kidnappings and plane crashes, they must figure out who is behind the evil deeds, all while working out their feelings for one another.

Eason, as always, does an amazing job of building a plot that races the reader along, filling the story with plenty of twists and turns. She also develops great characters who are all highly relatable with very real doubts, insecurities and flaws.

Besides being a great thriller, Acceptable Risk has several other deep themes, like finding forgiveness; learning to trust others; trying to find laughter even when you think youll never laugh again; and finding your real strength while pressing on.

Although Acceptable Risk could be read as a standalone, Id highly recommend reading the series first story, Collateral Damage. Fans of authors like Terri Blackstock and Elizabeth Goddard will enjoy this book.

A Story of Forgiveness and Trust

Wow. I didnt think Lynette Eason could top her Collateral Damage (the first book in the series), but she has outdone herself with Acceptable Risk. Brimming with intense action and suspense, mind-spinning plot with shocking twists, and endearing characters, this book is another winner in the contemporary suspense genre and a must read. Although it can be read as a stand alone, I think readers will get a richer experience by reading the series in order to get everyones background and enjoy this tight-knit circle of friends and colleagues. 

Sarah, an Army investigative reporter, and Gavin, a former Army special ops, have a past from when they served together in Afghanistan. Now Gavin runs a security company stateside and is recruited by Sarahs father to protect her while Sarah is recuperating from a kidnapping. Sarah has a dark past and an anger problem against her father which boil up when her younger brother dies. Convinced that something strange happening in the VA hospital caused his death, Sarah puts her stubbornly dogged self to find answers and brings Gavin and her brother Caden, the FBI agent, into the fray. Little does she know that what shes digging up is bigger than any of them could possibly imagine. Gavin is the alpha male, protective hero with a tender side who is definitely swoon-worthy. The themes of forgiveness and reconciliation run throughout the story and make the characters feel real even as theyre dodging bullets and speeding vehicles.

Fantastic romantic suspense

I could not wait to get my hands on this book.  The cover alone tempted me, and then seeing it was Lynette Eason had me hooked.  I knew I was going to be in for a treat.  Eason easily kept up her side of the bargain.  From the very beginning I was biting my nails nervously awaiting what might happen next.  I was taken on a jaw dropping ride and couldnt read the pages fast enough.  Sarah was the definition of tough.  Smart and capable she can hold her own in a family of guys.  It was fun watching her learn that while she is those things, it doesnt hurt to let a guy be a hero here and there.  The chemistry between Sarah and Gavin was undeniable, even if they tried to fight it.  I really cant blame Sarah for swooning a time or two, Gavin is a strong tattooed dose of yummy.  I loved getting to know them and wasnt ready to say goodbye.

Eason kept me on my toes the whole time.  This was not one of those stories where you can guess what will happen next.  She braided the perfect amount of mystery, suspense, and romance.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys those three things.  It was awesome seeing a strong and capable female lead, and the male complimented her perfectly.  They were both far from perfect and had to learn a few hard truths about themselves.  And I enjoyed every moment I spent with them. Loved it!

Acceptable Risk is the second book in the Danger Never Sleeps series. These are gritty stories that deal with hard but realistic issues. Be warned : PTSD, hostage situations and suicide are not easy to read about. The action seemed a mile-a-minute but it also seemed true to life. 
Gavin Black and Sarah Denning met in the Army in Afghanistan and dated a few times but things changed. They are reunited when Gavin rescues Sarah from a prison cell at the behest of her father, the General. They are soon caught up in a disturbing plot when they return to the States and spend time in a VA hospital. Can they uncover the criminal deeds before any more veterans suffer? 
Theirs is a journey to rely on God to help them get to the bottom of the nefarious events. It is also a journey of forgiveness for Sarah and her father. 
This story may be a bit raw but it moved at a fast pace and kept my attention. The heroine is strong, if opinionated and the hero is stalwart, sincere and patient while being a competent bodyguard. 
This can be read as a stand alone, although we meet a few characters from book one. I am really looking forward to reading the third book in the series. Lynette Eason is a favorite author. I always say I will read anything she writes.
