I previously bought a generic monitor arm on Amazon that should have been able to support my 32" Acer ed323qur that weighs a little over 13 pounds, but it didn't regardless of the tension on the gas tube. This one from Monoprice worked like a charm and appears to be the same as the ones being sold by other brands for much more money.

Actually holds the weight/size it claims

Typical Monoprice, great product at a great price. Only note is the tilt bolt was a real monster to get tight enough to not sag (my monitor is almost at the max supported weight) but once it was set I haven't had any issues. Would definitely recommend

Great product

Last year I purchased a Zero-G 35" wide screen monitor. I was quite happy but lost most of my desk space. I quickly got the Workstream Adjustable Gas Spring Desk Mount and after some finagling to get it installed properly, it it was amazing. I got back a lot of desk space plus my monitor now was floating in front of me at eye level, steady and strong.  If you have a 27+ monitor at home, you really need a support mount like this. It's awesome

Workstream Monitor Mount is a Must

Thanks to other reviews, I knew I might need to tighten the nut on the arm quite a bit to get it to hold my monitor.  Once I did that, it's been working really well.  They appear to have changed the back set-up; the VGA mounting plate has a clip to attach to the monitor arm, so you can screw the plate onto the monitor easily, and then just drop the clip into the slot to put the whole thing on the arm.  Works great!

Works well, good price

Time to set up was pretty short. The directions did provide instructions, but searching for videos of installation/adjustments was more helpful on how to adjust the tension for the monitor arm (ex. hold up weight of screen vs. dropping to the desk once monitor is mounted).  

One thing I didn't realize when it described its ability to tilt, it's describing the pivoting of the monitor from landscape to portrait. It doesn't adjust/tilt on the z axis (e.g., if the screen is directly in front of you, you can't angle it away/toward you to adjust for light direction/view angle).

Does as advertised

My previous stand could just barely support my 34" monitor.  Most of the stands out there do not claim to support anything that large. This stand easily supports the monitor  with capacity to spare. It also can raise the monitor much higher off the desk and the silver color is a plus for me.

There were a couple of minor cosmetic blemishes on the underside that might rate a 1/2 star off.  It takes some force to change the position but it holds the position well. Also be aware that it does not rotate a full 360 degrees.

Overall I would recommend this stand.  Smother operation and a full 360 rotation would make it a 5 star product.

HEAVY DUTY

The arm is firm but the part that holds the monitor is shaky (the vesa part) and is a bit hard to keep the monitor horizontal. Every time I move it, I have to adjust the angle with a lot of delicacy to make sure it doesn't stay twisted. Before you think "you should check the screws in the..." I did. They're all super tight and the problem is on the rotational piece. 
Since that's one of the main functions of a "monitor holder", I think this product is just ok.

Shaky vesa mount

Worked beautifully on my Dell 27" monitor for a couple years until I upgraded recently to a Monoprice 34" ultrawide monitor. 

The arms have enough strength hold up the new monitor at any height, but the screw that adjusts tilt is not strong enough to keep the monitor's head from sagging. Another reviewer had the same issue with a 34" monitor. 

I'm going to need to use the monitor stand or replace this arm with something more heavy duty. :(

Works for 27" but tilt issues on 34"

Did lots of research on finding a good budget friendly arm for my first stand up desk home set up and while I like the Monoprice Adjustable Gas Spring Desk Mount, I just don't love it. The flaw. It's such a pain to get adjusted. I'm hoping that I will get it figured out, but I just can't seem to get the tension on the tilt correctly.

Good, but not great.

This item is supposed to ship with 5 4mm allen head screws to assemble the interface between the desk and the arm. My package only shipped with 4. I'm more than a little concerned there might be more screws missing in places that are inaccessible to me.

Poor quality control - missing parts made assembly impossible
