It was sturdy but my granddaughter excepts Grammy to join her so I asked my husband to add plywood and wheels on the bottom. The sand stays cool in the shade and we have poured water into the sand to built. Sandcastle. The instructions were illustrations and frustrated my handy husband. I was starting to assemble but he didn't like my lack of speed. I added sand from SC and it's very smooth. The unit closes up nicely but I open and close it so she doesn't strain or catch her fingers. The wood comes out of the box smelling like stain but it disappears quickly. She has all her sand toys and cooking tools in there and it still closes easily.

The price was great (it was discounted so I bought two and put them together) I believe they are made of cedar which will not rot, but cedar will not take a lot of abuse. I glued mine at assembly to make joints stronger.  I'm glad I bought them.  Grandkids love their sandbox.  Helpful hint: I was told if you add cinnamon it will keep out the ants. That is next for mine to be finished.

A Good choice

Be aware this sand box is not a box. It has no bottom. It has a flimsy piece of fabric to go at the bottom, which doesn't even attach to the sides of the "box." Other than that, it's okay. My kids are enjoying playing in it. Assembly was fine.

It's not a box.

The wood is flimsy and cracks from the screws. The canopy is so hard to get up and down. It's only been a week and the wood is splitting where the canopy goes up and down.

Cute but not worth the money

This was not worth the price, yes the wood is beautiful but not made to last a whole summer. The canopy is held on by very flemsy unsupported sticks. The seat folds back and is supposed to be supported by small blocks that split apart as soon as i put the screw through the predrilled holes, i had to put tape around the wood to keep it from splitting totally into. For the price i expected the quality to be better. definitely disappointed in this purchase.

Read  befor you purchase.

Finally put it together after buying it for a Christmas present. Super disappointed after reading all the good reviews. I guess I shouldn't have believed all the incentive post. There's no floor, we had missing screws, the boards have gaps that would make it so it doesn't hold sand, the boards split even when using pre drilled holes. It's pretty and that's about the only worth whole quality. Super disappointing.

Good thing we have stuff at home to make it work.

The UV resistant canopy doesn't totally provide shade and already is faded and has a tear in it after being up a month. The sandbox itself is small but our two grand babies enjoy playing in it. It  just doesn't hold more than the two grand babies comfortably.

If you want a sandbox for a good photo op this is it.
If u want one kids can play in this is not it. Got for my 2 year old for Christmas. As soon as it warmed up enough for him to play in it we opened it and the back fell off. I've tried fixing it and every time I predrill and put new screws in the wood cracks there's cracks everywhere and the screws fall out. I'm by far no carpenter but I have enough know how to build one of these sandboxes from scratch but not for under 100$
I'm trying to get 1 year of usage out of it but I don't even see one summer month of usage with this wood busting every time a 2 year old sits on it

Picture perfect sandbox or play sandbox

Wood is super flimsy. We live in south ms and I was hoping for something to keep them out of the sun, it does somewhat but it won't screw tight enough to stay in position. I like the box part but the top, which is why I chose this ones not good. I would return but have nothing big enough to send it back!

Cheaply made and won't make it all summer

I would not recommend this sand box at all. The wood is super cheap and kept splitting when the correct screws were used . The screws were not over tightened. The Velcro on the top did not match up so it will not go on even . It looks terrible. Wish I had purchased good solid wood and built my own .
