I will start by saying that I strongly considered giving it a 3 star review because of how frustrating the instructions are. I found myself at least 3 times having to undo a lot of work I had already done because the instructions weren't clear and use no words where it could easily just state i.e. “make sure both are facing the same direction.” 
That said, the wood used is very good quality and I would definitely recommend it, it definitely takes patience to build it, as it took me almost 6 hours to build on my own (it's supposed to be a two people job). You'll also need a screwdriver and a lot of hand strength because it's not recommended to use a drill. Overall seems to be a very strong bed and my son is very happy with his bed and I'd do it all again for him. :) 
 *Mattress I used is a 6in spring mattress.
*Very Heavy package will need help carrying it.
