Finally retired my 27-year-old Ariens 5hp 2-stage snowblower. Engine still started on the first pull, but the forward gears no longer worked. Given the price point of this unit and what it might cost to repair the old one, I purchased it.

This morning, I woke up to several inches of wet HEAVY snow on my driveway. This unit cut through it like a hot knife through butter effortlessly throwing the snow an impressive distance. 

Very pleased and hoping it provides the same longevity as my old machine.

Im surprised at how well this snow blower worked with it having one of the smaller engines for a 24" snow blower. Self propulsion and auger operations worked like a charm. I think for a bit more snow you could use chains and a weight on the front. In fact needing the weight on front was probably the only set back. I'll probably buy the weight plate as there is still a lot of winter left. All in all this snow blower is a great value for what you pay and what you gwt.

Works pretty well!

There once were some errors, made with product names, The error was repeated, and that was a shame. Tissues became Kleenex, and aluminum foil Renolds Wrap, Many others were mis-labeled, as we fell into that trap. When shoveling snow, became too much of a strain, We needed a tool that would avoid our back pain. Great minds were consulted, the design must be firm, But how to move snow, was still the concern. Should it throw or just blow, to get rid of the snow, Or should it just melt it, we needed to know. What could it be, that would help with this chore, Whose product would be best, who would sell more and more. Many companies competed, but only one could be best. It was Ariens of course, they beat all the rest. Now the tool was invented, and given a great name, But history was repeated, and that was a shame. A once descriptive name, was now ruined for all time, And even the makers caved in, what a crime. No matter what you think, of this much needed tool, If you can&#39;t see that it throws snow, you&#39;re not very cool.

Just got to use the snow blower as we got 8+" of snow. It is a great machine. I had to go back and read the directions to put the key in the ignition and then it started right up!  Threw the snow easily even though it was a heavy snow. Glad I bought this machine.

I received this recently and have not yet had to use it. But I have been looking for how to check/change the oil. Surely it isn&#39;t that tiny little port on the side of the engine! I spent my career as an engineer and was appalled to see this. How is one supposed to check/change and add oil? 2 stars until I see a solution.

Where is the oil access????

I Bought snowblower in Nov. and used it for the first time yesterday. We got 31 inches of snow. That right 31 inches the noreaster. I didnt go out until it stopped. Snow was over the top of the snowblower but it did a great job. It starts easy and maneuvers well. I have a 2 car width driveway. It did struggle a little at bottom of driveway where snowplow goes by. It did not plug up or stall out. We very seldom get that much snow at one time. I do agree with others about the oil placement and check but not a big deal for me.

I moved out to the country in Michigan, so I knew I'd need a heavy-duty snow-blower. It took awhile for us to get any meaningful snow accumulation, but then we got a few big ones in a row. Boy, does this beast handle it with ease! 8" of snow, no problem! Throws it far, too. Easy to start, easy to use.

I finally got to use it after we had 19.5 inches of snow.  Unfortunately, there was ice left on the driveway from a previous 6 inch snowstorm that my old snow blower and power shovel couldn't handle.  It did do a very good job getting through the 19.5 inches.  Pushing it uphill  my slanted driveway wasn't fun! The snow blower transmission reminds me of the 1969 Camaro I had.  Only one wheel spins at a time on the ice sending the snow blower veering off course.

Instructions to assemble were lacking clarity, and step by step illustrations could be improved. Only used it twice. Had a VERY difficult time with tire traction. Like the electric start, and chute angler. Realized I needed to adjust the scraper blade on bottom of machine. (That&#39;s probably not the right part name?). Still haven&#39;t had an opportunity to try it with this adjustment. The tires do NOT grab the snow, and I found myself trying to lift and muscle-it all the time. Hoping next use is better. Would NOT recommend for snows over 2&quot; deep. My neighbor has a very small snow thrower and his driveway looked like he shoveled it down to the concrete. Tires are too small.

Bought it, set it up, fired up no problem. First snow came, went by the book, key in, gas on, primed 3x, tried electric start, no start. Very disappointed in this machine. I got it specifically because it has electric start. Should have kept my old blower from the 70s...
