Games

I loved playing old Atari 2600 games on the computer using an emulator and ROMs but I hated the controls. Then the Flash Back's came out for the TV and that was fine except you couldn't pause the game or add games you were stuck with the built-in ones almost like the old 2600 game units.  Now we have the Atair Flash Back Portable and it solves a lot of the problems. First an I feel it's most important you can pause the game with a single button quickly. Second, the game controls are very easy to use for the games. The third is the screen is in color and looks very good. The fourth reason is the slew of games built into the unit from Pitfall to Pacman to Frogger and a lot of other games you might not have heard of that are a blast to play.  The fifth feature is the rechargeable battery you charge with a USB cable and a computer which is handy and a light to tell you when you are running low on power. Now for the sixth reason, you can plug the unit into a TV and play it on the screen. This makes gameplay much better and more fun. The seventh and final reason and the one the ranks right up there with being able to pause your game is adding games with an SD chip using .bin format. I have tried out this feature and it works quite well you just must make sure the ROM in the .bin format is for an Atari 2600 machine.  Along with all these features comes a nice loud set of speaks and headphone jacks that are respectable. Overall the makers of this unit did a very good job building the product and I think if you are into retro gaming or just love 80's stuff or Atari stuff it's a nice fit especially if you have been wanting to play that old Atari 2600 unit game on your new TV and can't because of connection issues from the game console using old technology.

Wonderful

I bought this for my teenage daughter who likes vintage things, expecting that she would think it was cool, play with it for a few minutes, and never pick it up again. However, once she started playing it I almost couldn't get her off of it! She absolutely loved all of the vintage style games and surprisingly was super entertained by them and loved playing them! 10/10 would recommend!!

I bought this game player for my granddaughter's 13th birthday. She just loves it. Her mom says she loves it too much. lol She says her favorite game right now is Pac-Man. She hasn't played all the games yet so she says it might change.  She likes it because she can take it anywhere she goes and don't have to worry about internet connections.

I think this is great. Lots of cool games on it, like Pitfall, Yars Revenge, Centipede, Frogger. I like that you can hook it up to your TV. Overall, quite good!

Pitfall....

So the device itself feels like walmart cheap but it's not that bad for what i paid for it i guess. The buttons are ok the screen size is readable. It comes loaded with a bunch of games and navigating the interface to get to the games was ok. It says 70 games but they aren't storing that many in memory. I think you have to download them from atgames.com site. It does have pacman, pitfall, yars, and several other good old games on it. I bought an 32g SD card to try to get more games from atgames.com like it says but it never opens up the sdhc card for some reason. It just exits back to the select screen for the games. I Paid $29 bucks for it, it's good for lunch and games at work. 4 stars.

Atari Portable - 70 games (?)

This product was low quality but still fun old time.  Not high quality and way over-priced.  Buy the HDMI HD products to enjoy the quality of TODAY's PRODUCTS.

Not great

Directional pad is stiff and unresponsive.
SD card reader doesn't work, and yes, I DID follow all the insane requirements described on the website. This is a console with a message and that message is BEWARE! This is not a console for playing. This is a console for laying down and avoiding.

GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the games are not even playable- my old favourites such as Breakout and Circus will frustrate the heck out of you since they require paddle control and are impossible to play with a directional control. Garbage, Garbage, Garbage ridiculously overpriced!
