[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My opinion on this Tape Measure
- First thing I did was to test for accuracy against my know, accurate scales. It came out good and was easier to read even without my glasses. From that point, I used the Tape Measure on the current project (Lawn Chairs) I was working on. During this time, I discovered that one of my scales was slightly off. I was testing the tape measure against all of my rulers. See Picture.
- The notch under the body allows you to rest a finger on the Tape to hold it steady. I really like this feature because I was able to make multiple measurements without using the Tape Lock. This was a time saver. See Picture
- The tape Lock is in a good position where you don't have to feel around for it. The way It's position takes less effort.
- The package description states that it has a 13 ft reach. Tested this theory and found that it works as long as you have two hands on it. On this project, I had to reach about 4 to 5 feet at certain times. One of the pictures shows the Tape Measure hanging from a point to mark several intervals. Worked without any effort. See Picture.
- Has some weight to it. This is something I like. Plus.
- The only “Con” I have is that I've gotten so use to that finger notch that I tend to let the tape slam home. The three rivets on the “Hook” has prevented any damage. Another bonus. This has not changed my view on the Tape Measure . I'm sure the Company had this made that way to withstand the constant banging. 
- Recommend with confidence

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far this thing is great. I love features like the open bottom section that allows you to slow the retraction of the tape with you finger. The lines are clear and the construction is solid. Was able to get nearly 11ft out on the random tree measure test everyone always does… The belt clip is well formed and allows for quick placement. Also a big fan of dewalt tape measure cause the black and yellow is easy to find when you put this down on a job site and then immediately forget where you put it. Over all, highly recommend. Probably going to get a couple more cause a good tape measure is the best tool you can have.

Great size/weight awesome features

It's lightweight, compact, easy to read and has a nice and strong recoil spring. It's also very comfortable in the hand. Great tape measure. I'm getting some more. You should do the same.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a easy choice for a tape measure to start the light weight compact body fits well in your hand or clipped to your belt or pocket without weighing you down while still utilizing a full sized tape. It's easy to read with a low luster tape avoiding glare. It also features fraction markings every 1/8" for clear and decisive measurements. These markings are even more clear by the altering red and black numbering. This tape extends out holding rigid a good 8-10'.

Great for anything from baseboards to tile

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Clear markings and solid construction. Thick enough not to fold over when extended. Didn't experience fold over until just over 12 feet. I love the compact size, I'll definitely be using this extensively with apartment renovations coming up. All markings are bright and easy to read which makes it much quicker when taking measurements. This definitely lives up to the quality I expect from DeWALT.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had used the Dewalt 16" atomic. First, I like the size. It is perfect to carry anywhere. It is very compact and strong built. I had used the measure tape in  a sliding  door that it is going to be removed. I like it that is wide and it has the number break down. it was easy to read the number. also, it is  strong when you measure against the wall. It keep steady.  This is must have. Perfect size to carry.  One thing that it was missing on the back of the tape. No measuring. No magnetic. I wish they can add the magnetic feature on the end.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used quite a few tape measures over the years, but this DeWalt Atomic Compact Series 16 ft. Tape Measure is easily becoming my go-to. Right out of the box, it feels well-built – lightweight but solid, with a sturdy plastic housing and rubberized grips that make it easy to hold. The lock mechanism is smooth and effortless, and I really like that the rubber is on the lock itself, making one-handed operation simple.

One thing I immediately noticed was how compact this tape measure is. It clips onto a pocket, tool belt, or shop apron with ease, and I never feel like it's in the way. It's small enough to forget it's there but still has a wider blade than you'd typically not expect from something this size. That's a huge plus because it makes reading measurements much easier.

The standout on this tape is impressive—I'm getting about 10 feet before it buckles, which is more than enough for most tasks, whether measuring sheet goods or lumber. Retraction is smooth, and the finger brake is something I never knew I needed but now don't want to live without. It gives me complete control over the tape's retraction speed, preventing that all-too-familiar snap when it slams back into the housing. It's a small detail, but a thoughtful one.

Speaking of the blade, the markings are clear and easy to read, with fractional measurements included on one side. I really like that the quarter-inch increments are in red and the eighths in black, making it easier to spot what you need at a glance. The only thing I would have liked to see is double-sided markings—I've had plenty of situations where I need to read the tape from below, and that would've made it even better.

The hook design is solid, with large "ears" that catch onto materials easily, whether hooking onto an edge or pressing into an inside corner. It's nothing flashy, but it does exactly what it should.

So far, I've used this tape measure for a few woodworking projects, including a coat rack, a cabinet build, and a desktop bookshelf, and it's performed flawlessly every time. Whether measuring an 8-foot board or an 18-inch piece, the tape extends smoothly, locks in place when needed, and retracts without issue. I'll be using this for all my upcoming DIY and carpentry projects around the house, and honestly, I will pick up the 25-foot version to keep in the shop as well.

For the price, this is an excellent tape measure. It's compact, easy to use, and well thought out. If you're looking for something lightweight but tough enough for everyday work, this is a great pick.

Perfect Tape for the Woodshop or General Carpentry

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can run the tape out over 9 feet before it comes close to falling. It has a nice finger beak. The lock locks and unlocks easily. My Mom loves that it has the fractions printed on the tape (I think she's going to try and steal it from me, lol). If I had to come up with something that could be improved upon, it would be to print on the bottom of the tape as well as the top. Other than that it's a great addition to me DeWalt collection. I also like the size of it my other tapes are 25 feet and not as easy to carry with you all the time this one you can barely tell you have it on you. Just a great all around everyday tape measure.
