Good Tape by DeWalt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm guilty of buying a cheap tape measure because I thought, "Why spend more if you don't have to? They all do the same thing." As I've learned with other DeWalt tools, it's not just *what* you do, but *how* you do it. Start with a metal case covered by rubber at the key points so this tape can take a beating when you drop it. Put a large, deep clip on it so that it will stay attached to your belt or jeans waist. Make the tape really wide with sturdy metal so that it stays flat and upward and doesn't flop over when you reel it out over long runs. Make the numbers and markings large and bold so you can read the tape on the floor while standing. Use a quality thumb lock that engages solidly with a click so that you know the tape will stay in place. Finally, make it a 30' tape so that it's useful for everything, save a large landscaping project (that needs it's own dedicated tool). What you end up with is this DeWalt tape measure that will be the only one you'll ever need, and you'll never need to replace it, because it won't fail to retract or fall apart if you drop it, or have the tape bend and fold and stop being usable without someone else to hold it. The only trade-off is this tape measure is, of course, heavier than those cheap ones. That's *quality* you feel.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Picked this one for the extra length (30') I hadn't even noticed the cool ergonomic finger groove for stopping or holding the tape out. Sounds silly but I'm really excited about it. I now have a new main tape measure in my tool belt.

My new go to tape. You will Love the finger stop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great tape for everyday use. The unit has good retraction speed and easy to lock in place. I really like the ability to stop the table from the under side of the tape through the opening on the bottom. 
The only negative I could find with the unit is it advertises 13' reach from the tape. I could only get about 10'6” before it dropped. 
Overall a solid unit for homeowners and contractors alike.

Great Tape Measure

Solid tape measure

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an absolute well built tape measure. I love the fractional markings. It really helps with fast and accurate measurements without having to remember fractions. The build quality of the tape measure is great. I would've given it five stars but the reason I gave it four is because it's still relatively large for an atomic series item. Now I know it's 30' which requires it to be a certain size, but I personally was just expecting a little more compact. Overall, it's a Dewalt so you know it's quality and accurate. The rubber grips and the open underbelly have proven to be comfortable and practical. Highly recommend for a belt clip tape measure, but just understand it's still not the smallest in my opinion.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not a bad tape measure. But not what it should be either.  Upon opening the tape, it seemed slightly light and felt thin. The overall size is great. Fits great in the hand and extends, retracts and locks wonderfully.  Also is one of the only tapes that actually let you extend the full 30' without stopping a few feet beforehand. And the scalloped finger stop is a nice addition as well.  But that's about where the pros of the tape ends. The tape itself is thin and not as stout as it should be. But I assume that's a way they can make the tape a smaller profile. But the steel bends and kinks easily. After 1 week of regular use, my tape is already bent and kinked permanently. So instead of having the 13' extended it can't extend past 6' without collapsing. Another con to the tape is the cheater marks. Which for a person who isn't able to read the tape without them is a handy thing. But to those who read them daily, they just get in the way of accurate reading. But that's personal preference. Overall it would be a decent tape for around the house and whatnot. But definitely not for the professional who uses them daily.

Wish it could be the best....

I bought this thing several months back. I've only used it a handful of times. It seemed to be a pretty nice tape measure until I tried to use it to measure something roughly 28 feet long. Just before It reached 28 feet something inside broke and it would not retract. I guess I expected since this tape claims 30 feet that you could use all 30 feet. It is now in the trash and I'm off buy another tape measure.
