Quality mic

I had one of these as my daily driver microphone for the past 12 years! Made hours and hours of recordings with this microphone both professionally and casually. In my opinion this was the perfect microphone for my use case and nothing else comes close to the beautiful design aesthetics and functionality Sadly earlier this week it became unrecognizable by any device I plug it into. It seems that the internal memory has become corrupted and I have no way of reprogramming it or replacing the board that controls the USB functionality. RIP little buddy, you will be missed.

The Audio Technica AT2020 is my very first foray into the wonderful world of cardoid condenser microphones. As an amateur radio operator, or a ham radio op, I must say this microphone is superb in every way. My reason for giving Ease of Use a "good" rating is like I said, this my very first cardoid condenser mic, I didn't know anything about phantom power supplies or the like. Now that I do know, and have this as my main microphone for my radio station AI4HO, Alpha India Four Hotel Oscar. I have and still receive unsolicited great audio, or, you sound great, what mic are you using. I tell them an Audio Technica AT2020..doesn't everybody use this mic?

If you don't know anything about cardoid condenser microphones and are looking for a really, really great inexpensive microphone, then the AT2020 should be first on your list. While this is a great mic for studio both pro and home studio work, this mic also works well with instruments such as the drum, guitars both electric and non electric, tambourines too work well with this mic. Or, if you are a ham radio op like me and want something different in your arsenal of mics, this is it, look no further. The AT2020 by Audio Technica is a microphone for any and all, pro and amateur alike will enjoy the responsiveness and the rugged durability of this microphone. Thank you all for taking the time to read my review, and many thanks go to Audio Technica for building a superb mic in every way.

Superb in every way!

I see videos everyday on the Internet that are from big name companies that sound like they were recorded from the bottom of a barrel. This microphone gives you clear sound with a minimum of fuss. My main experience has been with voice and it picks up voice very well. Crystal clear results.

Polished Professional Sound

I am the GM of a high school radio station and we have three 2020's and two 2021's. Kids can be tough on equipment but these mics keep sounding great day in and day out. I use them to record with, live talk on the air, and even use them on stage occasionally and they never let me down. Way to go AT!!!

BUILT LIKE A TANK...SOUNDS LIKE AN ANGEL

This microphone WORKS extremely well with any Mac Machine and Windows XP. With following a few simple rules on recording audio the results are excellent! I had problems with the AT2020 USB on a PC with windows 7 professional (device not recognized) but when used on a MAC or a machine with Windows XP it is recognized immediately and works flawlessly.

I purchased a used AT2020 USB, to set up a home studio. I record vocals and voice overs, and wanted a quality mic. I am totally impressed with the recordings I've made with this mic! Not only is it easy to set up and use, but the sound quality is excellent. Highly recommended!

Great mic, easy to use

I am an audio enthusiast and a gamer, and I got this microphone because I stopped using headsets for gaming, and I started using audio-technica headphones, and I opted for a professional quality microphone, and the quality of this microphone is awesome without doubts. I paired this microphone with a high quality audio interface, and I can tell that this microphone works perfectly on VoIP( Voice over IP), Podcasting, Dialog and much more, A must-have professional microphone for any purpose where the performance and quality is a factor, and affordable for everyone.

Solid High Quality Microphone

Hello,
I cut voice tracks at home for industrial videos, films and radio spots. My past go to mic was a NADY ribbon but after auditioning several condensers including CAD, Rode, AKG and a newer APEX ribbon, I thought I'd give the AT 2020 a try. My radio network client said use this from now on. I now have 2 and will keep the APEX ribbon because it look retro and cool, and my Shure SM57's for outside work.

Overall, a wonderful yet inexpensive microphone

This mic is a good mic with exceptional sound quality,lightweight,and versatile in the sense that you can use it with an iphone/ipad. However the proprietary connector on the mic can not be found anywhere else and if by chance it breaks then you can not get any third party connectors anywhere. Audio technica  should have included two pairs of connectors in the occasion that one breaks.Also be aware that this mic does not include  a port to monitor your audio. Unless you are a die hard apple phone user and need a better mic then I would recommend some of audio technicas other mics.

A good mic with some design flaws

I bought this mic, plugged it in and had an afternoon of low-quality, low-level recording issues in Audacity, Ableton Live and then Adobe Audition. A quick lookup on the web revealed that there are a multitude of issues with nearly all USB powered mics since the release of Windows 10. I also note that the mic has been discontinued (without explanation) by audo-technica.
