The keypad is handy and provides another way to lock and unlock the door (the phone app being the other way). 
Overall I like the compact size of the keypad, but the depth of the unit is about the same as the width, and it might look better if it were only about 1/2 the depth.

Easy to setup. I had an initial issue pairing the keypad to the lock and thought I'd have to call customer support, but then I actually read the instructions completely and was able to easily reset the keypad and get it to pair. No issues since, a great product.

Works well, easy to setup

This lock was the first thing I bought for my new house. It works great. I have had it a year. One day my middle child told me their phone was dead when they got home from school and they had to sneak in through a window. I forgot about it, and life went on... Until 2 weeks ago. I was at my neighbors hanging out. My phone died... And I had been gone over 30 min. 11pm... I come home.. door locked. I go into the garage, must have a charger out there. Nope. Start to panic a little. Walk to my ex's down there street 11:30pm. Show up unannounced... Ask kid to unlock the door... He can't. New phone, never downloaded app so it wasn't sync'd. Ex let me use a charger to get enough charge to get in. Every one laughs at me. I immediately out a phone charger in my garage and ordered the key pad. No more accidental lock outs for me! Love this thing. I do wish August linked to ring and Google home... But, it is what it is.

Saves me from embarrassment

Reading the reviews, I braced myself for a difficult installation experience - setup, mounting, and function. Wife was poised to call in a handyman, but everything went super smoothly, except maybe lifting the back cover off the keypad and activating the batteries. Using the iPhone app, setup was easier than expected. Even when I forgot the provisional code, I was able to go into the app settings and simply reset. Everybody in the family can register with a numerical code he or she can remember - and change it afterward in the app. I was dreading the mounting stage until I discovered that my outside door frame was wood, not metal, so I could easily handle that myself. Best of all, I found that when the keypad was mounted nearer to my August lock than it had been during setup, responsiveness improved dramatically. I'd originally purchased the keypad to allow relatives and trusted contractors keyless entry, provide an extra level of reliability when the wifi bridge loses connectivity, and help out when auto-unlock sometimes becomes sluggish when my wife and I drive home from our nights out.
But the keypad has become much more than a stopgap. Pressing its red button is by far the quickest way to lock our front door, so we now use it every time we leave. Unlike my Apple Watch, my previous go-to, I punch the button more readily than the one on my wrist, don't need to say a word to Siri, and the response is almost instantaneous. Haven't heard my Apple Watch say, "Your August lock doesn't seem to be answering" for weeks, and I don't miss it. Unlocking has been absolutely reliable on the few occasions when the auto-unlock on the August system was pokey, most welcome when my arms were filled with packages and I could unlock my door with one finger. Bought this baby at a discount and have no regrets.

Better Than I Hoped

I have had this installed for a little over a month and it seems to love batteries.  Not sure what the problem is.  I have two others installed at two other locations and they are working wonderfully.  That is why I bought this one.  I love the features and convenience thy afford.  I can set up a code and give my guests access without actually going physically to the lock.  

I have put two sets of batteries in it so far.  Once the batteries are in, all is good and normal.  But a few days later, the backlight will not come on when you press a button and the codes do not unlock the door.  Or, when the lock is open, pressing he logo does not lock the door.  If I take the pad off and giggle the batteries, it will work for a day or two; then quit.  If I change the batteries, it will last longer; but not much.

This one is not so good

bought about month ago...dont use a whole lot.but always works on demand..little pricey compared to wyze .but great solid feel and buttons also feel firm..

Ez setup.great quality feel...

I wanted to use our lock as a stand alone device using the Auto Unlock feature but couldn't because our sons Apple Watch doesn't support using the stand alone watch app unfortunately. I decided this keypad would be required. That being said, I love the size and functionality of the device. It works excellent and was very easy to install. Highly recommend for those wanting the most versatility the lock offers.

Great addition!

I tried to install for at least 2 hours and could not get the code to work.  I hired someone to do it and they tried for almost 3 hours and cannot get it to work.  I will be returning it.  I have the August home lock and also a gate lock and they were also very difficult to install.  DO NOT BUY unless you are a tech expert with a ton of time on your hands!!!!!  I would not recomment any August products------way too hard to install.

IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL

I do not know what is going on but the keypad is not working. The battery on the app says medium but when I tap any of the buttons, nothing lights up and or nothing happens. It normally lights up red but that is not happening or locks the door. it's really frustrating because I haven't even had it for a month and it's not working... That's really annoying. I really needed it for this weekend.

Not working

I don't think August is ready yet to make smart locks. Sometimes I find it unlock as it supposed to as I get close by and then I use this keypad and keys are not as crisp as it should be and it takes some time to connect to the base to eventually open the door.

There is a huge lag
