It's been great having the August Wi-fi Smart Lock. When we have family visits us, or stay with us while they'll be in this area for other purposes, they download the app and we can choose how many days to grant them access to the lock. This makes it great when they want to come and leave as they wish!

[Employee of august] You have a pretty fancy door that's got multiple pins that go into the door frame and it's not like a normal door… but around the house, we have battery powered Yale locks that work fine. This door however, needed to look the same, not different so we left the exterior key install this deadbolt, only actuator, loaded the app, connected the bridge, and it's been flawless ever since….

All I wanted was a wireless deadbolt…

Got the lock a month ago. I like it but it still needs some fine tuning.  It works for the most part. I have two concern that I feel can be addressed be a software update. 
1 - I get notifications that WiFi is disconnected and reconnected. Seems to happen often. 
2 - Auto Unlock is buggy. The lock doesn't always unlock when I arrive so I have to use my key.  This is particularly annoying because I'll close the door and lock it manually. It eventually will detect my phone and unlock. But it's after I've already opened the door closed and locked it. Why this is annoying. I don't always hear it so, for a while I didn't realize my door was unlocked.  At this point I'm going to deactivate the feature until an update is released. I like the lock. What I like best is you can't tell from outside that I have the door equipped with the lock.

WiFi lock is cool tech

Love the lock. Works wonderfully with my iPhone, including automatic home/away settings. 
Has been problematic with guest keys, and Apple Watch operation - which, when I contacted August support (very nice and helpful people, once you get through the automated system, which is not-so-nice-or-helpful) I was told was a software/firmware issue. (They did provide a temporary work around with “guest keys”, make them non-guest keys).

Once they fix the software/firmware glitches, I'll definitely give it 5 starts.

Minor annoyance for which I'm not going to remove any stars. The battery size is non-standard. Additional minor annoyance, the batteries in the packaging only lasted about a month. I really, really hope that this was a case of old/drained batteries rather than an indication of how quickly the lock drains batteries in general. 

I am very happy with the purchase, and would definitely recommend this product.
Just be potentially prepared for some software annoyances (not the primary function, thankfully). Hopefully they'll fix the software/firmware issues ASAP because those were features I very much wanted to be able to use. 
Setup, also, was not all that quick or simple. The hole for the door sensor - the instructions indicated the *wrong* hole size (too big), and pairing was not a quickly done process.
And while simple visual instructions are always better. There is such a thing as too-simple or rather insufficient instructions.

Still the best product like this that I found on the market.

And that it just goes over my standard dead-bolt lock, and my regular keys work, so with that respect, setup was very easy.

Excellent product, (glitchy software)

Support has been great. However the lock doesn't work well. Possible an issue with certain types of locks. I have a baldwin lock. Tech eluded that the green adapter is sensitive and doesn't lie up well. When you purchase your lock you will see my meaning. Not giving up yet. Hope you have better luck then I'm having. Love the concept

Always requires calibration, currently mot working

I have other August locks using August Connect which have worked great for years, so I was excited to try their latest product. Big mistake. I attempted to connect to my wifi no less than a dozen times before it finally connected for about a minute before dropping the connection, never to connect again. I even tried turning the 5Ghz setting off on my dual bandwith wifi router thinking maybe it was confusing the connection - nothing worked. I have spent hours on this thing which was supposed to make my life easier. Needless to say, I'm returning it.

Hours Wasted Attempting to Set-up Wifi - Returned

Bought it as an upgrade over the 3rd generation lock with the connect which always works great over homekit. So far this new lock has never worked over apple homekit or august over WiFi, it can't be shared with my wife (says complete setup in app). The lock has a strong WiFi connection according to the app, so honestly does not work as advertised.

Never works over WiFi

I love the idea and design. However I keep getting notifications that auto unlocking is in progress but never achieves it. Also when I manually unlock through the app the door lock keeps ringing; it's like it's confused as to what has happened. Reconfigured several times but the issue keeps happening.

Great concept, keeps having issues

Couldn't connect to Google Nest Wifi sitting 15 feet away. All other devices in my home have full signal at that location.

Lock rarely connected to application and cycled between "Connecting" and "Lock Unavailable" with Bluetooth less than a foot away.

Terrible Wifi

Almost never auto-unlocks for any of the four people.  We have followed the troubleshooting steps and it has not fixed the issue.  When it does auto-unlock it is very slow in doing it.  We can get out of our vehicle, collect all our things, get to the door, try it, put stuff down, get our phone out, and then it unlocks.  It has randomly turned off both auto-unlock and door sense. We never get the notification for being away like we did with the original.  It constantly drops off the wireless network even though it is within 10 feet of the closest access point.  We do get those notifications.
