I’m a big tech guy, so a product has to have a real wow factor to impress me.  After reading many reviews like this one, I took a leap of faith and purchased a August lock for my new home build.  The setup was super easy, the fit and function is perfect. I had the lock installed and set up in 15 mins.   I was concerned about the Geo fence, but I have to say,  9 times out of 10 my door is unlocking as I walk up to it.

Great advances in lock systems

A bit of a pita to get homekit to recognize the locks along with being incompatible with a device operating on orbi wifi6 during setup.

Luckily, I had an older tablet sitting around to connect the locks to wifi.

After managing to get everything online and homekit to recognize the locks... My wife's homepod will operate the locks via Siri.

Doorsense recommended drill size is too large, isn't compatible with the extra secure door lock mount (3" from the deadbolt) and the external mounts aren't compatible with modern door trim.

Overall, setup is a bit clunky, but overall worth it I guess.

Great lock

This is my second smart lock from August; my first was their 1st generation and I love it.  This 2nd generation is even better; smaller, more compact, was easy to install, and works super well.  The matte black matches my doorknobs and fixtures... all positives from me!

I waited to buy this lock until they released the smaller version. It works with HomeKit perfectly. The Auto Lock/Unlock feature is Fantastic. Never worry about did I lock the door. No keys when I get home, it automatically unlocks.

Installation was so simple Open the App and follow along and it's done and just works like it should.

The Best on the Market

Am happy with the WiFi lock. The installation was easy. The connection took a bit time especially to have it work with Home App and Alexa. The customer support was great as they solved the issue over the phone! Really happy to be able to monitor the door status wherever I am now.

I had a Pro lock that finally kicked the bucket after 5 years. This new lock I had to get as a replacement is sun-par. The motor sounds like it’s already going to give out. The auto-unlock feature with this lock works 20% of the time; and the 80% that it doesn’t, my door randomly unlocks itself 5-10 minutes after already being home, pretty unsafe if you ask me.

Nice, showy, lock, low quality parts

Physical installation was easy enough, but we had HOURS of struggle getting the app (android) to communicate with the lock. My hubs (a technologist!) worked on it for 2 days before it worked, restarting it, resetting it, etc, and even when it did work, there was about a minute-long delay between lock/unlocking in the app and the response with the lock itself. AND THEN, days after the installation process, we're sitting by the front door having dinner, and the lock UNLOCKS itself on its own. No one touching the lock itself or the app. The app didn't even register that it had happened, and said "all's secure!" but we were definitely looking at and opening an unlocked door. We uninstalled it that night and returned it. Buying an old fashioned hide-a-key and calling it a day.

Couldn't connect to Google Nest Wifi sitting 15 feet away. All other devices in my home have full signal at that location.

Lock rarely connected to application and cycled between "Connecting" and "Lock Unavailable" with Bluetooth less than a foot away.
