I purchased this for my 18 month old Christmas gift. He enjoyed it once opened and inflated two years later at 3.5 he still enjoys it and so do my 21 month old whose been playing with it for quite some time. I'm sorry to read the reviews with those mentioning holes but as rough as our hanky pants been through with violent bounces, rolling and pouncing on it as well as throwing it down the stairs ours was in top notch shape. I actually came to this website to find a different one and I'm not a fan of the bee so I'll probably get the hop and glow. I wanted to rate this 2 years later as it's used daily constantly and I have two rough busy boys.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was better than I expected. The pump to blow up the toy was easy to use. My 2 yr old has been afraid of everything new lately so was initially disappointed but not surprised when she seemed to want nothing to do with it. Got on it and showed her how to use it which both she and my husband found to be hilarious and she loves it now. The point of sharing this embarrassing story is while I did not put all my weight down on it, I was impressed by how sturdy it felt. It felt similar to sitting on my exercise ball.  Now that her initial fear is gone, she has been using it every day.

Fun sturdy toy

My son got this as a Christmas gift for his first Christmas I believe. He has used it almost every day since he received it. He will be 7 in a month. This toy has been a life saver as he uses it to help with his stimulation issues and helps to calm him down. I would recommend this toy to everyone I know!! 


We are considering buying a second one since ours got left a little too close to the fire place and now has a hole in the toe. He is so sad it is deflating and he can't bounce like he used to!

Has been used close to everyday for 6ish years

He's been bouncing for an entire hour since it arrived with his cowboy hat on holding on to the hippos bandana like he's riding a bull. It's adorable! Highly recommend!

Son loves it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this toy as part of the toy tester program and I am so glad I did.  My son has boundless energy and loves to bounce around with his "hippopotenuse" as he calls it (mom is a math teacher) .  It is not only a bouncing toy but also his friend.  He brings it around the house to do different activities with us.  It did take a little bit of practice to get down the bouncing, but once he did he loved it.  I love that it has legs to balance on.  It is so much more secure than the ball hippity hops I am used to.  It is so wonderful to hear the giggles and fun provided by a toy.

Hours of fun

We went through three of these from the time my son was 2 until he was about 4-5. This was the best purchase I ever made for an active little boy. He'd bounce on “Hippy” all day long and when he finally popped or got a hole I'd take him to the “doctor” and he'd return brand new. I bought this not only for my own kid but as gifts for kids in the same age range, always a huge hit! Please don't get rid of this it's my go to gift for younger kids now that my son is older.

It was really easy to blow up and deflate which made it a great toy to take with us on vacation since it doesn't take up much room. When inflated it's adorable and my daughter has lots of fun bouncing around on it with mommy and Daddy's help.

Fun & Easy assembly makes it a great travel toy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids love it! My 3.5 year old daughter has had a lot of fun bouncing and riding around the house. My 1.5 year old boy liked it too, but it collapsed on him a couple times and he faceplanted on the ground. So even though it's rated for 18 months, I think it should be noted that close supervision might be needed for that age. The reason for 1 star off is that it developed a tiny pinhole leak around the bottom seal within a few days. But my 160 lb husband did sit on it and gently bounce a little, so that really may be all it is. A little superglue and it should be fine. 

All and all a great toy.

Fun, but not as sturdy as I thought

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves bouncing on her hanky pants the hippo and she thinks he is just the cutest! Was easy to inflate... holds her weight well (she is thin / petite for her age).  i would give 5 stars however this product is so similar to many others available (ie: on Amazon) for very low $$$. B it In general we are a huge fan of battat toys. They are made well, and have great design and color appeal.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this Hippo as part of the Toy Tester Program.  We absolutely love each and every Battat toy we have.  Unfortunately, this one was a miss.  From the moment we got it, it never stayed inflated.  Within a few days (including days of not being touched at all), it would deflate and my son couldn't sit on it.  We have a similar product made by a European brand that he received Christmas 2018 and it has not once had to be refilled with air.  This one we've pumped up a couple times, and each time we really struggled with removing the pin.  Pliers were needed and even then it wasn't easy.  We do like this particular model because it seems more stable than our other brand so it would have created less worry when he was younger.  I would, however, be hesitant to give this to a younger tot because of the painted parts, particularly the teeth (tusks?) since I now know how kids can suck on anything and everything. Thank you, Battat, for the opportunity to be part of your program.  We are appreciative.

Solid concept but never stayed inflated

Not super happy with this toy. The plug is on the bottom. So all I hear is a loud noise when my kid bounces. It's a hard plastic plug. I think they could have put it in a better spot. Don't recommend.
